Am I doomed ??? *sobs*
Silly, silly, foolish me - I've passed two FF games on my PS2 but I still know so little about the mechanics of the machine!
You see, having fallen in love with Final Fantasy X and X-2, I bought VIII, which, as you know, is a PS1 game. I didn't know that you couldn't save it on a PS2 memory card.
I've gotten through heaps of the first disc and then I got a game over. Now I have to start all over again. :(
Am I doomed to have to restart the game entirely every time I get a game over ? Furthermore, if I don't get a game over between now and the end of the first disc, I'm going to need a memory card to transfer the info over to the second disc, aren't I ?
What do I do ? Am I doomed ? Should I take the game back, do PS1 memory cards work on PS2s ? Has anyone else experienced this ?
Heeeeeeeeeeeeelp ! I really want to finish this game ! I love it so far!

Use a PS1 memory card whenever you play PS1 games, no matter what system you're using. Yes, they work on PS2s.
PS1 cards for PS1 games, PS2 cards for PS2 games.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank you thank you thank you !

You can also transfer your PS1 files on to your PS2 memory card.

Your not doomed! Just buy a ps1 memory card!

Thank you so much, guys ! I raced out and bought a PS1 memory card and it's aaaall good. Now I can sit back and enjoy Final Fantasy VIII ! Thanks again for the tip !

That's great:)
But be careful... only official Sony PS1 cards work on the PS2. I've got a cheap but good non-Sony memory card; it worked fine on my PS1 but the PS2 doesn't even know it's there. The real product, even though it's more expensive, will be more reliable.
