Old Skewl or New Gen?
ohk, i can't really decide because one of my fav games is FFVI, and my other fav is FFX. both have qualities that the other doesn't possess; so i pose the question:old skewl or new gen?
EDIT: this was supposed to be a poll but i don't kno how to make one...i guess im still a newb, lol :rolleyes2

I'm gonna get slammed for this...I think FF is timeless. Old games...new games...they're all good by me.
-
I prefer the newer ones myself. Mainly because they've gotten faster (with both gameplay and loading time). Granted the cartridge versions didn't have much of a loading time, but the battles were still pretty slow.
-
i like both. my favorite game is ff4 but then my 2nd favorite is ff10. :D and then my 3rd being ff5. so uhh. ill just say both.
-
In terms of FF I'm probably more of a New Gen player since I've mostly played VII onwards. Although I do own all of the older ones, and have played some of VI but I haven't really felt like playing the rest yet. I probably will one day xD I guess I've got used to nice graphics and voices and stuff after playing FFX/X-2 and now I feel like I wanna play more games of that technical quality =P Although..I think I'm more of an old school gamer when it comes to games in general, but it's just how I've gone with the FF series.

I fairly enjoy the old ones just as much the new ones.
My favorite is of course Final Fantasy VII, but then again I also love
Final Fantasy II (Origins) and Final Fantasy V.
AGAIN, I also enjoy Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles...
...they're timeless...

Oh.... do I have to decide? That's like being asked which of your children you like best. Whichever you pick, it's unfair to the other. I guess old school, but I don't dislike new school at all.
-
i like the good ff games. so most of them. ffVI and ffVII are my favs.
I despise the old school V new school thing. Espically since ffVI is more new school then old school.

I like 1-8 and tactics was badass but I just couldn't play X.

I really don't think that FFIX is oldschool at all. It has more of a fantasy style setting, but other than that I didn't think it really did much in terms of returning to its roots. I'm not trying to be an oldschool elitist here, just my opinion. For example, thieves classically don't get a battle ability besides "steal". Later "steal" expanded to "mug", but it was a very similar command. Somehow Zidane has a whole arsenal of magic attacks. I could go on and list more things (trance, lack of dungeon crawls, etc.) but this is really just an opinion. I view FFIX as a new school FF made to appeal to old school FFers.

That's what I'm saying. It was fantasy based instead of sci-fi based, but that's not what makes it new-school or old-school to me. I also didn't think it LOOKED much like an old school FF. They attempted to use the SD look from the early days, but it wound up making everyone look about 12 years old. I don't really fault it for its look, but I don't think it looked oldschool. It's just my opinion though. Also, there was plenty of stuff that referred to FFVII and VIII. I think the game is sort of like a big fan tribute, but not specifically an oldschool tribute.

Old or new?
Either one depending on the game.
I tend to like the visual elements of new, but the storyline elements of old.
-
I can't exactly make a fair judgement, since I've only played VII-X-2, and very little of Tactics. I think I'll jet on over to Bestbuy today,a nd pick up something...maybe.
:D

Old = r0x0rz
New = r0x0rz
Any questions?

Old, since you couldn't have the new w/out the old. Besides, I've replayed them (combined) probably about 8x more than I've replayed the newer ones.
