they giv u "Master Thief" on ur armour so u steal only rare items. not sure how many u need im in the midle of doin it now.

You can get 30 pendulums by doing that little chocobo race at Remiem Temple. I think you have to get four chests and no poles, it's easy.
You can get 99 by bribing Ultima Weapon. :D
