Defying Convention
Just posting this because Im getting kind of annoyed with several people in my linkshell. Whenever they see a person who doesnt have a tried and tested job/subjob they laugh and call that person stupid. Now, do you all let people into a party etc even if their subjob doesnt neccessarily seem to be the most obvious choice for their main job?
Surely by trying new things like this we can find better combinations than the ones currently known to us? Perhaps Im just too naive.
Post your thoughts as well as any unusual job combinations you have seen to be successful or tried yourself!
Right now Im levelling Blm/Whm - but thats because I cant get advanced jobs yet :(

Well i wouldnt like laugh or something..thats rude, but more often than not ppl will try the most tried sj combinations. Why? It shows many things..:
You know what your doing.
You are not lazy to put another subpar sj.
Less likely to be a newb.
More likely to be effective in battle..among other things.
After all if you see a WAR/SMN or something..what are YOU going to think? Most sj combinations are tried and true..and bring maximal exp...and while most would say its to have fun, yes thats true too...it just depends if others are willing to put up with it. Some say you can easily just make your own party..but thats not necessarily the easiest when one job is missing..plus you also have to prove to ppl why your differnet combination is better or at least on par with something that has been used before.
Also its easier for mages to try diff sjs and still get invited...most melee will either have to get the #1 gear and combo..or spend as some DRGs have it..more than a week LFG =/
I personally might wait a bit longer for someone with the right SJ...and only pick the wierd one last..because more likely than not that person is subpar or lazy to lvl up a right sj. And its more better to wait for someone else to party with to get better exp than get subpar or die cuz of their less that decent performance of someone with an odd sub. I see THF/RDM once..and LFG for 4 hours...and i dont bother inviting that..the RDM sub has little to offer...=/ Plus melee = dime a dozen..that SAM can help more. And later when i was invited to a party with that THF..she..wasnt..that..good >>
I am sure in the end we can find good different combos too..but most of the time, its not practical...so i usually go with a good SJ and lvled up..than one that is odd unless they show in their search comment and talk to me convincingly they are just that good with it..and we will give it a try...
