Got a hobby?
(Note: I did do a search and found one other topic about hobbies, but considering its age and that the content was just different enough, I've opted to make a new thread.)
OK. So, imagine you're bored as hell. You don't have much in the ways of hobbies. You used to have diversions, but now you have nothing. Sure, there are games, but they can't occupy you all of the time. There's reading, there's a friend (a single friend), but... eh. Not all of the time. The rest of the time is spent whining that there is nothing to do. That's me.
I'm bored, folks. I spend my whole time doing the above. I have one friend (near me), and granted he's great, but I am starting to annoy him by wanting to spend all of my spare time with him. (That's not healthy for any form of relationship). I'm re-reading the same books over and over. I find myself buying games, playing them for fifteen minutes, and putting them down never to be touched. (I have a stack quite high.) I don't have the energy to get into anything like that. I figure, I just need small breaks and do something else a bit more meaningful. Or even just different. I'm open.
Now, you're all internet nerds - something I was at one point. (I guess posting here, I still am, but again, the internet even doesn't have as much draw as it once did.) That must keep you busy. But, I'm asking - what do you do in your spare time that isn't related to games or anime? What sort of diversions, collections, or actions do you partake in to get yourself excited?
Any suggestions?
(Edit: I realized, completely on my own without ANYONE else telling me otherwise, that I sound arrogant. Sorry; I didn't mean to be. And if it's that whole "internet nerd" thing, I meant it endearingly. I'm a nerd, too. =P Heh.)

I webdesign... or draw occasionally ^_^ Though you probably would be better off spending your time doing something un-computer related. ;] Go out and meet some new people, I guess~ Harder than it sounds sometimes... but it couldn't hurt to try to make new friends ^^

For me, I'm trying to combine my career/degree with my hobbies. Since I'm a film/acting major, I'm always shooting little scenes, writing scripts, trying out for shows and basically continuing to try and push myself further with ideas and the like. In that same vein, I'm also a huge movie fan as I'll watch just about anything once, within reason and can sometimes spend nights just watching a film with friends.
Other than that, I enjoy sports A LOT. I can't go an hour without shooting some hoops, kicking a soccer ball, doing some pushups, or any kind of physical activity. It just gets my body moving and really helps me feel alive. I also love to talk to people, get to really engage them in conversation and see what they're all about. I enjoy traveling to new places and meeting all sorts of new people, but that's just me.
Figure out what deep down interests you, or what intrigues you and try it. If you've always been interested in Karate, sign up for a class. If you want to learn how to swim, go take lessons. Play someone in chess, try writing some poetry. Try something new and before you know it, you'll find a whole slew of new hobbies and activities. The worst thing to do is to do nothing, so go out and be active, whether it's physically or mentally.
Take care all.

Photography. When I'm bored, I'll head over to Little Tokyo or something and just start snapping away. It's always a great experience, occasionally making me sad or happy depending on what I see, and it makes the time fly by.
My dance classes are a lovely distraction and messing around with Photoshop and Illustrator is always fun too. And NETFLIX! Although I'm not sure if watching DVDs counts as a hobby.
Oh and um...Pilates. :p

Activities: My favorite is definitely dancing (Metal, Trance, Pulse, Reggae, and HipHop), I enjoy Bicycling when the weather is nice, DND game sessions, and I've come to fancy Karoke (especially Korean style Noreban, which is the same idea except that you and your friends have a private room and you feel more confident)
Collections: Comic books, Coins, and Action Figures. In the summer, when I happen to be living near a beach, I walk the shoreline looking for beach glass (It's a really therapeutic way to clear your mind of stress)
Diversions: Movies, Music, Driving in the countryside, Bars and Pubs (especially when they have a pooltable)

Reading and acting like a psychotic, that's pretty much it.
I've always been a big reader, and that used to be accompanied by constant playing RPGs and watching anime. Lately, I'm just burnt out on both of those. I borrowed a bunch of games from a friend, and the only time they've been played was when some folks were squatting at my place. I just cant find the interest to play them.
As for books, however, I've discovered a cheap way to attain reading material and many authors to love. Right now I'm devouring anything by Hunter S. Thompson and Chuck Palahniuk, all the great manga around (Sailormoon, Hana Yori Dango, Othello, Aria, Kare Kano), and Sandman comics. The only instances where I'm not reading (I even read while waiting for things to load on the internet) in my spare time are spent with friends, and usually we're out screaming at pedastrians, scaring rich folks and discussing long plots about things I cant mention here.
So my suggetion is; go to your nearest library or Barnes and Noble and grab random books off the shelves. Sit and read and find some great authors. Whenever I get a new book I come home, lay down in my bed, light some inscense, curl up with the cats and read.

I write songs and stories...
-
Reading
Drawing
Listening to music
Singing to music
Writing
Going shopping or to the movies
Calling people
Calling someone else after the first person hangs up
Constantly calling people 'till I have no more people left to call
That may sound like nothing much. I spend lots of time at my friends' places. When I'm at home I pretty much play video games or read.
I'm a nerd =D
