Spell Durations

Do the durations of spells increase as the mages gain levels? I've got Garnet at 9th and have noticed that Protect and Shell don't last long enough to be useful. I'm hoping this will change......?????

Course I might be misreading things. I'm assuming the spell expires when the character it was cast on stops "shining".

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention that I'm on disk two...in case that matters. :)

The length of status effects depends on the character's Spirit value. If it is high good status' will last for a long time and bad status' (Slow, Confuse, etc) will not hit as often and be recovered quickly.
