Hi, welcome to the forums. The FF Legends series on gameboy aren't really Final Fantasy games. In Japan you'll find them as other names. Hudson soft (I believe thats it) felt it wouldn't sell well here in the US so they made an agreement with squaresoft to use thier name. Gameswise, the plot is pretty much to climb the tower to see if it really leads to paradise.
