Sonic the Hedgehog
I dig Sonic games. I got the Sonic Mega Collection for PS2 and it's great. My favorite is Sonic 2 and I'm playing that now. Sonic 1 was a lot harder than I remember, especially the zone with the water. I dislike water zones and love the casino-type zones.
Do you like Sonic, and what is your favorite game/level in the series?

me i liked Sonic 3 for the SEGA megadrive it was great ecspecially the first few zones i also like Sonic Advance 2

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. His latest efforts aren't very good though. Sonic Heroes for PS2 was http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif.
I haven't picked up the Sonic The Hedgehog Mega Collection yet, but I probably won't. I have most of them on Sega, and I don't want to find out that the controls have been messed up thanks to the PS2 DualShock. The Sega Genesis one's are better. :)

Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles combined is the unbeatable Sonic game. I spent many, many hours playing Sonic games as a child, and I still enjoy playing them to this very day (although as you can imagine, I don't play them very often). Sonic 1 got me hooked, Sonic 2 satisfied me for another year, Sonic 3 disappointed me slightly, and then Sonic and Knuckles made me a fan again.
I still prefer the Super Mario series, though.

Sonic 2 was my very first consol video game and is one of my favorites. I got most of the others but sadly not all of them work anymore. :(
I must say that Sonic games really started going down the drain when he went to dreamcast. They ruined knuckles by making him a gullible looser that listens to rap. And they call Dr. Robotnik just Eggman now, terrible.
Plus Sonic 3d sucked too(that one with all the little birdies)
-
As Rainecloud said, Sonic 1 provides enough sonic to instate withdrawal symptoms, the staggering (relitively) amount of levels on 2 made the game great, sonic 3 sucked slightly, but "and knuckles" was brill brill brill. I really liked 3D too *hides*
The renaming of robotnik to eggman isn't even stupid, it's just...evil

I enjoy the Sonic series, and will probably pick up the Sonic Mega Collection when I have some spare cash. However, the latest Sonic game, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (or whatever) for the Gamecube, was crap. I have little faith that the Sonic series will ever be good again. :(

We all know tails was the best, and who of course could forget Super Tails?
I still remember the Master System Version though xD
-
Tails was definately the best. Sonic 1, 2, and 3 are classics, and I never got into S&K for some odd reason. I love those games. They're some of the few games I still play these days.
The new ones were crap, and I wouldn't waste my time on pissing on the games.

I feel the opposite. I don't really care for the old Sonic games, but I really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.
Sure the idea of rolling around a 2D screen at the speed of light sounds cool, but factor in the pits they throw in the games and the entire concept is spoiled by the player inching forward instead to avoid all of the constant pitfalls and hazards. What's the point of going so fast when you know you're going to be penalized for it? That's what I found myself doing quite frequently in the early sonic games (the game gear version was especially guilty of this).
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 also have this problem, but it isn't as bad. The levels are set up a bit more carefully, and because it is in 3D, you can actually see far enough in front of you to know you aren't heading straight for some spikes or a bottomless pit. I really also liked the way your bouncing attacks were homing, making it easier to make jumps in the process.
I also really liked the boss battles in Sonic Adventure 2, and to some extent, Sonic Adventure. I haven't played Heroes yet, but if I have the time some day I just might.
-
Then your reaction time is too slow. There's very few levels in the old Sonic games that I don't take at near full speed.
-
Yeah. Sonic 2 and 3 have the smoothest level design in the series. They often hit the perfect balance between exploratory potential and a main route that you can just speed through carefree.
-
Sonic games are great. My favorite is part two, I loved racking up rings in the Casino Zone. Tails is my favorite character.
-
Yeah, Casino Zone was the best. It got me hooked on gambling.

I didn't get into Sonic as much as others, but maybe that's basically I never played it as much as others. Idunno.
