I know all the functions a administrator or cid's knight has or whatever, because I'm a moderator somewhere else. But why do you not delete forums entirely instead of locking them if you know you won't ever open a certain one again?

We don't delete anything, so we have a record. Also, text doesn't take that much space on the server. How many threads adds up to even one MP3? A couple hundred, if not a couple thousand. If the database gets too big generally we prune the whole MB at once by age.
So true. The thing that really takes up space is attachments.
We've never deleted entire forums. Other than archive-like dealies, entire forums are not locked, either. Only threads.
Plus we have like unlimited everything. Huzzah!
