Chrono what?
ok, im new here, so please dont kill me if this was already discussed, but what the hell was up with chrono cross? it was a great game, but it had seemingly little to do with trigger, and i heard somewhere it was like, a sequel to trigger and some other game. i dont know what thats about, but information would be nice. also, any news about a future chrono game would also be sweet (i heard a rumor that the new one is called chrono break, but my rumor source may be on several drugs)

I haven't heard anything about another Chrono sequel...
(SPOILER)As for Chrono Cross, Kid was the clone of Schala from Chrono Trigger. Lucca (whom Kid calls "sis") found her in the forest with Schala's pendant and took her in as well as other orphans. Lynx burned the place down and Lucca was killed (you see Crono, Lucca, and Marle's spirits as the children in the Dead Sea). Also, you get to see childrens' drawings of all of the playable characters in Chrono Trigger except for Magus inside of Lucca's house (which is almost the same in Chrono Trigger as it is in Chrono Cross except with a few new rooms) when it's burning and you have to save young Kid from it. Lucca also sends Kid a letter that Luccia gives to Kid which mentions Janus (Magus). One thing that always puzzled me though, was how could Glenn (Frog) be 24 in Chrono Cross when he was probably already that old in Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross takes place 20 years after the events in Chrono Trigger? Besides the fact that they messed up Glenn's past in Chrono Cross. Oh well, I guess I'll never know.

thanks, that clears some stuff up. i still wonder about where i heard that chrono cross was like a sequel to 2 games though, however, it probably doesnt have any basis in fact.
-
The Glenn in Chrono Cross was named after the Glenn from A.D. 600. They aren't the same person.
-
The 2 game it is a sequel to are Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreamers.
-
Radical Dreamers is where Chrono Cross got some of its music, characters, and story elements. Officially, it takes place in a universe that's parallel to the universes in which CC takes place.
-
Well of course. My memory is a bit shaky about what you can learn in Chronopolis, but don't you learn a bit about what happens in Radical Dreamers?
I think I am the only person who is happy that Magus didn't come back in Chrono Cross.
-
There's a computer terminal or something in Chronopolis that basically says the intro to Radical Dreamers verbatim.
For the record, I like that Magus didn't come back in Chrono Cross, although his return in Radical Dreamers was handled better than I thought it'd be; basically they do the "Laguna is Squall's father" thing and make it as painfully obvious as possible without every actually coming out and saying it.

SE trademarked "Chrono Break" in the US, as I recall, but let it expire. However, they were holding onto "Chrono Brake" in Japan (last I heard), which has led to speculation that Chrono Break was a mistranslation. I haven't heard anything about this recently, though.
