Avro Aero

I am taking Canadian History course in school and learning a lot that I did not know about my country. We are about in the 1950's and I am kinda disappointed. The reason is that Canada/Canadian government let itself get screwed over a lot of times. For example, Conferderation, Canda only got the right to sign treaties in 1931, in the mean time the UK signed for us. This lead to the whole Alska thing, which was annoying cause it seemd that everyone was aganist us. But the thing that pissed me off the most was the whole Avro Aero. this was a Canadian plane develop in this time period. it was started by the Liberal government of St. Laurent and then terminated by Deifenbaker, after the liberals lost and the conservatives took over. In this time Canada thought it was able to defend itself, and was developping the Aero as a part of the defense. At this time NORAD was created and the USA wanted us to by their airships and missles. At the time the Aero was headed by the mastermind of the time. The Iroquois engines too were created for the plane too. I foget which US president was in office at the time, but it was a Republican, and he also tried to convince Defeinbaker to cancel the project and buy the american missles. In the end the Aero was a phenominal vehicle ahea dof its time, but due to the government it was cancelled, and dismantled all evidence destroyed, save for what the workers stole, like video reels. Canada had the chance to be independant from the US in the defense snese, but did not. many of the engineers working on the Aero went to work at infamous places. One of them worked for NASA and designed the Lunar modual that went to the moon in July, 1969. Itwas an opprotunity of a life time. however we have not taken advantage of it. fellow Candians, and anyone else, who knows about this, what is your opinion on it?

Personnally I do not like Defeinbaker, and I really got pissed at the US president, cause one of the reasons he told the PM that missles were better was because he did not want Candians to out do them on the defense scale, and people buying the Candian ships. I know he was trying to save the American industry, but it pissed me off. (At the time I think the US was workin gon some kind of plane, I forget which one, but the Aero would have been able to outstrip it.)

president in office during 1931 was FDR Franklin D Roosevelt.I forgot who the president was during the 1950s because FDR died after WW2 i think.But man its awesome to learn the history of another nation.
