Err... I need to brush up on my world history... Wasn't that when the Australians attacked the Ottoman Empire in the first World War?
no, ANZAC ( Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) day is in rememberence of our rush on the turks at gallipoli.
'AUSTRALIANS ALL LET US REJOICE,
FOR WE ARE YOUNG AND FREEEEEEE!!!
WITH GOLDEN SOIL AND WEALTH FOR TOIL
OUR HOME IS GIRTH B......' ect.
Peace out and
EE
Yeah, fair enough. The media go way over the top with it though.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that Turks=Ottoman Empire.Quote:

Yeah thats correct
Bah. Fancy our substituting a Maori verse for an Australian one, only to have the Aussie PM snub us for a few snarlers on the bar-by. Streuth. Also, shame on you, Don Brash, for stirring when you're supposed to be paying respects. Speaking of paying, I got dragged into the Anzac Day sales. It was terrible, and souless, and why can't people just go one miserable day without clocking up the dollar signs?
On Anzac Day, I remember everyone who lost their lives in the two world wars, not just the Anzacs.
It's good to have a day when we can commemorate all those who gave their lives or had them taken. It's also good that Australia and New Zealand share this bond.
