Mia of dot.hack

Who here has played dot.hack?
Who here has successfully beaten that last XTRA dungeon where you're suppose to find Mia?
With all of the virus monsters all over the place, I've only been to get to 14th floor before the virus itself killed me.
That was my FIRST playthrough, all the rest of the times the virus kills me on the 7th floor. That's half the progress I originally made!!!

Is there supposed to be a way that you kill these things without Data Drain?
Is there supposed to be a way (besides killing monsters without Data Drain) to recover your condition?
Or did @$$-OL makers of this game leave that whole dungeon purely up to chance?
