Is there a frontsite hack for IPB boards like there is for VB2 and 3?
You might want to search for IPB Portals...I would recommend one but I am not familiar with any in particular.

IPB comes with a portal script. Check \Tools_and_Scripts\ipdynamiclite or something along those lines for it.
Which version 1.2, 1.3, or 2.0?
1.3 and above I believe.
