Israeli Soldier FINALLY convicted of Manslaughter

Israeli guilty of shooting Briton

After all the cover-ups & lies by the Israeli government backed by the U.S., a soldier is finally convicted for an unlawful killing.....trouble is, it took a Westerner to get killed by an Bedouin Arab before they would act. If one Westerner can get get killed while on the Palestinian side of the wire, how many innocent Palestinians are getting murdered without anything happening?

I know the Palestinian's have their fair share of muderers, trouble is, we all KNOW about them & every time it happens, Israel sends a gunship to destroy a segment of Palestinian territory. The further trouble is that the Palestinian's are rightfully classed as terrorists & treated as such, when Israeli soldiers do it, it's a state sponsered act. Discuss this. This is a topic I remain open-minded about.

Interesting this has had zero replies which means one of a few things;

That soldier fired on the activist because he 'taunted' him. That's not ground for killing someone, not in the army, and most certainly not in the Israeli army. The rules for firing at someone are simple:

1) If you're fired at, you're allowed to fire back, and fire to kill.
2) If you see an intent, and the means to harm you (i.e, someone charging you screaming Allah hu Akbar and totting an AK-47)
3) If civilians or other soldiers are being fired at, you may return fire, and once again, in order to kill.

That is all. Nothing more, nothing less. No "I thought he was a terrorirst", or "He made fun of me". Those are not acceptable, and soldiers who fire illegally are trialed, like this fellow was.

That is all. No more, no less, and nothing further to add.

He actually never taunted him. If you lived outside Israel you would have seen the live camera shots which should him clearly going to get children out of the gunfire & then get shot. To say he 'taunted' him is absurd, even if you still say it's an unlawful killing you are still waving and excuse. A false excuse.
What Hamas & the other 'freedom fighter' organisation do is abhorant. The world sees it as so, and rightly so. What most in the West don't see (bar UK with BBC & C4 documentaries), is the crimes on the Israeli side.
You saying he 'taunted them' is an interesting insight to what Israeli people are told. I don't blame you in any way, you only know what you can find out. I have seen the video, as have millions in the UK. There was honestly zero taunting going on.

The fact that I'm an Israeli citizen and resident has abseloutly nothing to do with the fact I have little knowledge on this matter, concerning what happened or didn't happen. And as I've stated, it really doesn't matter. The mere fact he fired at an un-armed civilian with little to no intention (and certainly no means) of harming him (the shooter) or anyone close to him, was enough. The heads up is appreciated FM, and duely noted. Propaganda comes in all forms. The fact that, as an Israeli, getting predominently Israeli news & reading predominently Israeli newspapers, means he most DEFINATELY gets a totally non-biased slant on the affairs of his country (!).
Living in Northern Ireland I know full well the effects of British 'non-biased' news. In order to open your eyes, you must first open your minds.

It is sad you think this, and I cannot imagine what gave you such an impression. Despite what you may think, no, not all Israelis are innocent and not all Palestinians are bad. Added the fact I'm Israeli, it's quite clear which side I'm on... but it still doesn't mean I can't see and understand the other side (though, I cannot accept many of its actions).

Having said that - this really has got nothing to do with the topic at hand. However, the word 'finally' at the headline makes me wonder... :rolleyes2

As you can see, I have a basic grasp of the English language, and given that, I read and watch CNN, BBC, Sky News, and I can also fight my way through German, French and Arabic, though I usually just read translations. Al Jazeera rocks my socks. Also, as you may have noticed, I use the Internet, which means I have access to whatever bloody source of news I want access too. :)

It's not a question of what you have access to now. It's a question of what you've been brought up with & what you chose to believe subsequently. No one believed the first scientists when they claimed the world was round. People lived in the belief it was flat, and anyone who questioned that was laughed at and in some cases murdered. When someone suddenly starts telling you, what you believed in for so long, isn't exactly fact, you will react in disbelief & anger.
You claim there is no propaganda in Israel, yet you made the false claim the victim was 'taunting' the soldiers. Either you made this up or you were fed misleading information from the 'non-biased' news.
The Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland had been saying for years that the British Army were colluding with Loyalist terrorists. These claims, for years, were instantly dismissed by the Protestant population & indeed leading figures in the British Parliament. No one believed it. Suddenly carbon fact that they were indeed colluding comes out (documents, testimonies etc.). Now, it is accepted, by in large, in mainland Britain that they did. The only people who still don't believe it is the Ulster-Scotch Protestants of N.I. People in the eye of the storm aren't necessarily the most informed & definately not the most open about the truth.

I wasn't making that claim, the soldier did. That's why I put it in brackets - to signify it's not a fact, but a testimony. For all I care, he can say God told him to do it, or the Wizard of Oz - he still killed an un-armed civilian. That's unlawful, and that's why he was trialed.

Indeed, there's no propoganda. Yes, people are brought up one way or the other, but no ten Israelis have the same opinion on something, or anything really. My father believes one thing, my mother believes another, I have other opinions... we all have a mind of our own.
