North Gate

The reason why I haven't been here for a couple of days is because I've been insanely playing Final Fantasy IX xD.
Anyways, when I went to the North Gate, I saw how beautiful it was there, and a question comes to mind: What purpose does it serve? We all know what the South Gate is there for, but I don't think that we ever get told what the North Gate is there for. So?

It's there to make you ask questions. :p

the north gate is the gate at the north. it's also a gate.

some of those gates have items hidden at them.

And for the records, while South Gate separates Alexandria from Lindblum, North Gate actually separates Alexandria from Burmecia.

I did think it was the north gate separating Lindblum and Alexandria though :S

If you go to North Gate at your very first opportunity, you get some clues/foreshadowing that Alexandria is mobilizing its military against Burmecia.
