I have just seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and it was pretty stupid. Though you have to admit Johnny Depp is funny. If you have seen the movie give me your opinions on the movie.

I'm so used to Gene Wilder that I just couldn't get used to Depp as Wonka. I liked the story (although I liked the old one better) as it stuck closer to the book. I was glad to see all of the kids get what they had coming to them... And yes, the canibalism quote was hilarious. I dunno, I guess I'm just so used to the older version which had some decent songs and singing, and you know what they say about people and change.
I felt that Depp managed to do 'eccentric' a lot better than Gene Wilder did. Which really suprised me. And the fact that it's not a musical works great to me to, so that the Ooma Loompa singing seems... out of place. Helps make the factory stand out better as being a weird place.
I liked it sort of thats the scary part
I think Johnny is too good for this role, but he's very versatile as an actor, which is good. Johnny is my favourite actor, he's great.
That scared me. xDQuote:

I like the fact that he has a bit of an arsehole streak about him. It add a nice touch to Willie Wonka's character. It's doubtful I'll go see it, but I'll probably it catch on DVD.
The movie was creepy, which is what i was hoping for. Johnny Depp is my favorite actor and I think he was much funnier and more creepy than the original. I think the movie Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory was made too kid-friendly compared to the book. I liked the new version better in terms of hilarity and it ahd Johnny Depp in it, which is a plus for me. I also saw a preview for anotehr animated movie with Jphnny Depp, I think it was call The CorpseBride. But no matter what I shall always love the boat scene...

Squeeeee!!!! Loved it, loved it! I knows lots of people hate it, but I can't help but love it!!!
(cough *Obsessive Johnny fan* cough)
:shifty:
Well, I thought it was funny and pretty well done. I think the problem most people have is that they're too attached to the old version with Gene Wilder, and they keep thinking that Johnny Depp is trying to dethrone him or something, when he's completely not. It sort of gets to me that Tim Burton and Johnny have nothing but respect for what Gene Wilder created back in '71, while Gene is going around and insulting them for doing what he thinks is a straight remake (its not, they are sticking closer to the book this time).
Anyways, I saw the old movie years ago and I didn't really remember it that well when I went in to see the updated version. And I had no trouble whatsoever loving it. So I think the trick is to go in with a clean slate--just don't expect Gene Wilder, or anything like him. And if you hate it anyway, thats fine, we all have our tastes.
....and yeah, that Jackson thing was really creepy....erm....
oompa loompas susck in this version i hear
Yes, people seem split on whether the new oompa loompas are funny or annoying. I thought they were funny, but that's just me. I want Chinese food.
