ozma
hey i was never that good with names of enemies but i recently found ozma in the air garden, i found plenty of strategies online about how to beat him but even with all the best gear and absorbing shadow damage i cant seem to survive, is there anything i can do other than magioc hammer with quina to stop his attacks or make him stop healing? i mean i would do fine, but even with auto haste and initiative he gets 3 turns b4 i get 1 and then all but 1 person is dead....
uhh hope u can help? if not thx anyway

Nope. He is able to act as soon as any member of your party gets a full ATB, and on top of that he can counter everything your party does.
Your best bet is to equip Shadow-absorbing/guarding equipment on everyone, and input their commands during Doomsday's animation, that way he can't attack everytime you have a character's ATB fill.
-
so he gets a turn as soon as the bar fills or as soon as i input a command? ima guess u meant input command, thx man
-
IIRC he gets a turn the second any one of your characters is able to input a command, when their ATB is filled.
-
Attack with your most powerful skills, and hope for the best.
Ozma is based on luck.

Auto-life on all characters is VERY helpfull. Especially against meteor (9999 damage to all) Try equiping it. ;)
-
Meteor is anywhere from 110 to 9999 damage to all, at random.
-
I got extremely to beat him with the most difficult party of them all: Zidane, Vivi, Garnet and Eiko. All with shadow absorption, best armor, weapons, and all abilities. They were all at level 99 as well.
-
Four Lv.99 characters + Flare Star = 4950 damage to all party members, and it ignores defense.
-
I beat him at level 70, with Zidane, Dagger, Freya, and Quina. Magic Hammer is helpful, definitely, and having Dragon Crest do 9999 per attack is a must. I had shadow absorbing equipment on two characters, and the other two had equipment that only cut it in half. I'm pretty sure I got lucky.

y did shock with steiner do only 500 when it usually does max damage? and no i didnt misread it it did 500 3 times in a row
-
the thing with all of the FF9 later on bosses is they only have a little bit of hp so if you can be doing 8000+ damage a turn to ozma(this is how i beat hades.killed him before he charged his sword.)so if you survive long enough doing loads of damage any boss is i is a pile of steaming smurf.to help you survive you should get shadow absorbing equipment.

You know, if you hadn't said you saw it do 500 three times in a row I would have said you misread it :/
Shock's attack power is Steiner's equipped sword's attack power muliplied by three, from which the target's physical defense is subtracted. After that it's multiplied by a number determined by Steiner's level and Strength.
Equipping Steiner with a weak weapon can reduce Shock's damage to triple-digits, and if Steiner gets Mini'd the damage done by Shock will simply be his sword's attack power minus the target's defense, which in most cases would be triple-digit damage.
Was Steiner in Mini status? Did you have any support abilities like Bird Killer or MP Attack equipped?
-
yea i noticed while fighting him again that steiner was mini and by the way i FINALLY beat ozma
100 AP HOLY CRAP
everyone on aim told me i got prumice PEICE so i used my 2 peices to make a whole one now i cant learn boost cuz i used my hammer on tin armor T.T
i screwed up on my first play thru a looong time ago
