I have a question, what made the Cold War unavoidable?

i'll ponder on it for a while.
Take two radically different ideals. Give one each to two powerful countries. Create a power vacuum left behind by a great threat to world security and freedom. And, just for kicks, give those two countries weapons that can wipe out a city in a single blow.
Bake and spread evenly across the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. Serves approximately five billion.
