I've noticed that people who are either starting a thread or answering a thread have a yellow chocobo or a black chocobo under their post. What do those chocobos mean?

I've noticed that people who are either starting a thread or answering a thread have a yellow chocobo or a black chocobo under their post. What do those chocobos mean?
I think it means offline or online.
Yellow = online, black = offline, red = invisible.
