It really sucks. It's going to become a crazy Islamic theocracy where women lack any rights and religious freedom is completely out the window (atleast when Saddam was in power there was a little of both).
Oh well...that's the so called "democracy" we wanted and have been sending people to die for...right?

Which is what every single nation on this earth has done. No nation has been born without bloodhsed.No change was instituted without bloodhsed.
Now the problem with Iraq is. No one bothered triying to put Saddam out of power. The Iraqi's I mean. This is why you have this big mess here.. None of them were ready for this change. Why because they didn't want it. They say they did but actions speak louder than words.
Ultimately Bush knew this and this is why he did such a thing. He started a war in vain. The US soldier's died in vain. Everythime I said it. some guyw ho jsut came back from Iraq tries to shut me up. Bah same crap happened to my dad when he came back form the Persian Gulf war back when he was an officer of the marines. They shut him up becuase it was unpatriotic to critisize war.(This was after he left hte marines as a major yeah he's retired.A manager of I dunno which corporation now.).
Now all americans finally see that Bush didn't care for you. He just wanted your money.These oil companies are paying him and he is getting rich while we suffer.
I doubt he'll get inpeached even though we have every smurfing right to do so and for the right reasons. I mean we americans it's not that we are stupid. ITs just we dont reconise the corporations influence in our gov. While other countries do. Since we don't reconize that well you get Clinton about to become impeached.For what? The very last thing that the United States wants is a true 'democracy' in Iraq.
There was minor rebellion in Iraq. The problem is now that weapons have come so far (granted Iraqs arsenoal is dated to about WWII era) now man power has little to do with it. Machine guns and bombs took and put the zerging armies of men out of the equasion. Look at the trenching aspect of the world wars.
For some of the Iraq people to rebel would be about as useful as Wisconsin deciding to declare its independance... It would last a week - if that. I mean the power behind nations in the hand of one man is just a problem waiting to happen. Where there is discussion - there is reason. There is no reason with war; and thus reasoning, politics are the better front for discussion. Not to mention this subdues the government to the control of the masses. For Iraq to have a succesful revolution - they needed a means to revolt. Much as we got many of our guns and ammunition from the french. (Thats right; they saved us once too)
This analogy is simple. The forced democratic system in Iraq gives the people a means to argue thier rights. We must stay there now to ensure that thier system does not get corrupt like ours is by corrupting it in the same way that the opposing oppressers would like. Thus the conundrum of our international policies.
I know that Bush has his own reasons for invading Iraq... but lets not forget that we did do some good over there.

What's amusing is that the article has been updated since the OP was made, and now says the draft has been signed. It's up to the population now.
You people decrying it are aware that it's because of Democracy that's it is happening? Ie representatives from many different cultures in Iraq all have a voice.
Hell though, I'm growing tired of the whole deal. I say we pull out, like they're asking us to, and then they can see exactly what happens without coalition forces there.

Personally i am in support of Iraq going against this, America should not have too much influence in a new draft if they are going to do one, because if they do the new government will be based off that Constitution, and will have similar American ideals because it was made off in America. However I do not want Iraq to be like America unless it truly absolutely wants to, so before the mindset and the Constitution(the highest law in that country) is set in stone(or as set in as it can), i want them to get the right one that fits THEM, not America.
K, my previous comment apparently attracted no interest. But seriously, most of Iraq says they want us out. I'm not quite sure who they think will handle the security without us (Given that it's not wonderful with us in there.), but hey, to each their own.
I like the way, however, that it is assumed a Constitution designed to lay down the fundamental precepts of a nation can be hammered out flawlessly and without conflict in however long.
I do agree milf. It is kind of a hard subject to work with. Hell, even when friends try to figure out what to do on a saturday night, there could be conflict.

The Iraq situation is literally inevitable. Due to Clinton's inaction we suffer consequences now.
Saddam signed the U.N. resolution unto which he clearly evaded the agreements of his compact. This gives any member of the United Nations power to step forth and take action. Seeing that America is the world role model and strongest military power, we have taken action. I support our actions in Iraq. I lived overseas during the Gulf War so I've seen much of what's going on now like back then.
Regardless of the idea that weapons of mass destruction were found. The man killed 100,000 Kurdish people. That is unacceptable under any means.
To say American soldiers died in vain would be quite a premiscious statement. They died so that Iraq may have a better future. Afterall. America's biggest problem is that she only thinks for herself. Think about other's lives for a change.
