Xenosaga isn't Square Enix, but is still a decent game. If it were XenoGEARS, I'd say that but of those, FFVI.

Well, Chrono Trigger is an easier undertaking than the rest of the choices, so I say start with that. If you play Xenogears first, it will spoil subsequent RPG's you play. You've been warned!

I'd go with FF VI, because it's a beautiful classic that you have to know.
Or, Chrono Trigger which is very short, AND THEN FF VII.

Just play Xenogears. Just get yourself mentally prepared for...well, just get prepared to be blown away, I suppose.

Probably CT or VI

Haven't played Xenogears so I couldn't say whether it's good or not, but starting with the classics helps you appreciate them more.
