I am at a cross roads with this. I believe that certain things will happen, but that there is also free will. So I am somewhere in between I guess.

And some say it's not worth thinking about in any case.

Some do say that. Of course, some say that Hitler landed on the moon before Neil Armstrong did, so who knows? They might be wrong in their belief.

Some say this is no more than intellectual masturbation.

I believe God already knows what's going to happen, but he doesn't control our daily lives, per se. But no destiny -- not like "I was destined to rob this store, it's not my fault".
