2 Charachter party-HArcher and Hunter
4 Character party-White Mage (with either morph or control as a secondary ability set), Blue Mage, Red Mage, Gunner
6 Character party-Thief (black magic as second ability set), White Monk, Fencer, Hunter, Archer, Blue Mage
these are my favorite picks...
* Marche [Human/M]: Master Soldier/Paladin
* Zwingley [Nu Mou/F]: Master White-Mage/Black-Mage
* Molly [Viera/F]: Master Red-Mage/Master Fencer (?)
* Sis [Viera/F]: Master Sniper/Assassin
* Montblanc [Moogle/M]: Black-Mage/NO SUB
* Schneider [Human/M]: Hunter/Master Archer
--> i almost never go into battle without Marche, Zwingley, Montblanc, and Schneider. the last two ["guest"] units can be filled in by anyone, but the pair of Vieras is a common choice.

* Kief [Bangaa/M]: Master Gladiator/Warrior
^ most of the time, these two would fight as a pair, like Molly/Sis.
