The early days of translations
"You Spoony Bard!" which is what Tellah yells at Edward is considered one of the most famous lines in Final Fantasy history and quite possibly video game history. Ted Woosley translated Square's SNES games back in the early to mid 90's (FFII, FFIII, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc.) and he did a decent job considering he was always under pressure from Squaresoft to translate quickly to get the game published and sold in North America. Of course, now that Square Enix has grown and has hired more translators, the translations of their games are getting more sophisticated and accurate.
I don't remember what Tellah says in the re-translation of Final Fantasy IV on FF Anthology though...
I guess they didn't want it to fade
So he still says "You Spoony Bard!" in FFIV? I guess Square decided to leave it as is due to many of us liking that line.:) Sorry, I played the game on PSone last year and I'm currently playing FFII on FFOrigins.
