If your threads are interesting and have the potential for a decent discusion people will contribute... Any thread that can be answered in the first few threads don't often last long... It's probably what you write rather than you...

Lurk a little before starting topics. Find topics others have created that are interesting and get in on a good discussion then. That way, people will get to know you better and you'll find it easier to converse and fit in. :)
