I don't understand your question. Pants and armor aren't mutually exclusive.
i mean i want to be able to wear pants, i just see basically underwear when i look at my guy, i want to wear pants
Then you go to an NPC or the Auction House and use your gil to buy pants. Don't have gil? You should have stacked up quite a few crystals just from leveling, so sell those crystals at the AH, and wait for your profit to be sent to your delivery box in your Mog House. Unless you're a Mithra, there's really nothing stopping you from obtaining pants if you want them.
