A lot of people are impatient, therefore they don't get the full effect of FF8. Also, most people don't take the time to learn and master the junctioning system, which is key.
But yeah, there aren't that many FF8 fans... but I know that most FF8 fans absolutely love FF8, including myself.
yup me to best FF title in my opinion:)
If your gonna buy an FF game you know it wont be easy and im not satisfied untill i reach the end
FF8 is my favorite of all of them. I loved the storyline and characters and music. :D Then FFX-2 is my second favorite.
FF8 kicks ass!
On the contrary, I think this site have many FF8 followers. They're just more relaxed about their fanboyism, well, except for Future Esthar. :(
liberati fatali.....legendry:D
lol maybe so
Squall_VII: you are new to the site so maybe it might be a good idea for you to read our FAQ. Especially this section.

It's not that there aren't many FFVIII fans, it's that the FFVIII haters are really loud, second only to the FFX-2 haters (most members of one are members of both). You see various people hate on every FF, but none quite so loudly as the aforementioned two.
I think it's because FF8 is different from other FFs, and it isn't as easy to understand. People who dislike it usually suck at it and/or don't understand how the Junction system works. So instead of blaming themselves for being complete idiots, they blame the game.
I love FF8, and I have spent more work on this one than any other FF that I have played. I have a hard time choosing whether I like 7, 8, or 9 the most. They are all magnificent games and should be played by anyone who is a fan of the series.
Hey, let's not bring down FE, master of the insane non-sensical theory.Quote:

What the hell are you talking about? Final Fantasy VIII is arguably the MOST popular Final Fantasy, only surpassed perhaps by the original fan boys of Final Fantasy VII.Quote:

I personally liked FFVIII, it's probably my second favourite FF game, next to FFX. But I suppose it's really one of those "love it or hate it" types... most people were put off by the Junctioning system.
Most people I know of who don't like VIII never finished it, and yes, Junctioning is key.
I don't know how many fans there are of any of the FF's but I do know that this section of the forum is very active. So whatever that's worth.
i look back down the road of all the Final Fantasy games i've finished, and there is nothing like Final Fantasy VIII. i spent a lot of time on it, quite possibly more than Final Fantasy VII. the only reason for hanging around Final Fantasy X too long is to get everyone Break HP Limit. i played Final Fantasy VIII each time with joy...
Final Fantasy VIII, unfortunately, does get it's share of 'horrible idiots'. I still believe it isn't that bad of a game. Granted, I couldn't care less about little things like 'omg Rinoa is so annoying!' and 'Time Compression doesn't make sense', and a surreal ending hooks me anyway, but still. (Not talking about the people who think it's 'too modern' or what other rubbish.) The Junction System, flawed as it is, was nonetheless innovative and pretty unique.
And Zell. :cat:
Edit: I'll never forget the person that actually said a 'gun-sword isn't realistic'. That made my day.
