Sounds like a Disc Read Error
Do any messages come up?
Just clean the disk. Mine does it sometimes, no error messages.
Find a DRE guide on google, even if it isnt DRE, the guide fixes most problems.
I can fix PS2s however I don't recommend it for the novice repair person. I was taught by a guy who learnt and it took a while for me to master (ok so I got the first one right but then I got a back ground in PC repair) from the sounds of it either the central pinning magnet might have come loose (very rare problem) or your lazer is actually running higher than it should which is a common occurance. Has your ps2 ever taken a knock or fall? if you feel comfortable trying to do a home repair without a professional or semi pro help then pm me.
