ilovebees -- Was it ever cleared up?

Any of you guys remember the old "ilovebees.com" thing for Halo 2? Well, this topic was raging on a lot of forums, and I was wondering if this whole thing was ever cleared up, as to whether it was a hoax by Bungie (which I beleive it was...). Any details?

There are some details, yes.

It's an ARG, one of the best ones too (._. payphone incidents). I wish I had known what ARGs were when it was active, cuz I would've been playing it like a madman.
