New Costumes
Have you ever noticed that in Final Fantasy characters wear the exact same clothes throughout the whole game? I was starting to think that maybe FF games could start giving characters unlockable costumes or you being able to change their wardrobe throughout the game, because for example it didn't really make any sense for Tidus In FFX to climb Mt. Gagazet with the clothes he was wearing. Do you think it could be a unique feature for the genre like fighting games always give characters at least 2 costumes so why shouldn't RPGs or FF alone get a change of clothes because I know they stink after a month's quest of saving the world and they never take showers either.

I'm not into unlockable costumes, but I do like the idea that the characters' clothing reflect their environments.

*cough*Final Fantasy VIII*cough*
-
What do you mean Final Fantasy VIII cough it doesn't have costume changing does it?! Squall would look good in a suit.
-
remember. in FF8 there is his normal clothes and a lot of characters have SeeD uniforms and in dollet, squall, zell and selphie are all wearing student uniforms. characters not changing clothes isn't unusual in games and the odd clothes change isnt a bad thing but i think its best for people to have a main suit.

Yeah I wondered how Rikku could ever climb Mt. Gagazet. *rolls eyes* It's a good idea.
-
And remember, FFX-2 is ALL about changing clothes! :D

Its been around for a long time. FF just never picked up on it. I know even back in PS1 days RPGs were around where their battle and world map animations represented the armor and weapons they were using. I'm guessing there were SNES games that did the same thing. I know there's deffinitely ones today. Especially on XBox. KOTOR comes to mind. And Fable

There are unlockable costumes in Tales of Symphonia. They're ok.

Yeah even cloud slipped into that blue uniform... Go MR.dolphin GO

I imagine there are many other standards of RPG's that you could strictly make more realistic, but really wouldn't gel. For example the removal of spells/impossible limits, forcing characters to eat, sleep and go to the toilet regularly, circular planet as oppose to the "donut-shaped world" of the looping map, and aformentioned changes of clothes.

isnt there some way to change clothes near the start of FF9
