Umm..... I would have to say the sword.
I always go for the sword, cause the esper just teaches a spell that you can get through other means

I always go for the Magicite, just for the sake of completeness. The sword is better and more useful though. Wager it in the Coliseum.
Depends upon how I want to play through. Sometime I take the sword and bet it for Illumina at the Coliseum. Other times I take the esper and morph like mad. :)
