I think Kain and Rydia were both great characters, and Cid is hilarious, especially in the Hard Type fan translation for SNES. Golbez is also a really neat character.

I've always liked Rydia.
My personal favorite is Kain, then Palom, then Cecil (Dark).
-Kain can JUMP, he starts off pretty damn strong, not to mention his overwhelming power over Cecil during the Baron invasion over Yang's country and his awesome Spears, which results in double damage with his nifty Jump command.
Rosa. She's a sweetheart, first one in the series too.
