So we've had plenty of EVIL fights but who's the King of all Good?
Well, to show that im not a total star war fanboi, i have to go with Gandalf.
Sure, yoda has the jumps, twirls, and cool greeness, but lets set it up straight.
Yodas largest match: Palpatine
yoda lost that one (retreat= loss)
Gandalfs largest match : The Balrog
Gandalf wins that one
Yoda dies
Gandalf lives
Gandalfs power beats yodas power. Magic owns the force (im talking about the cosmic destructive power of magic vs the light side of the force)
and my basis is the movies, and i have not read the books in any great detail.
i have only known gandalf to use fireworks or something like that ... thats pretty lame ... i don't really follow the lore of either so i am goin at this pretty blind and only from what i have read or watched as a young boy .... and yoda can pick up an X-wing (i think) and move it with the force as well as build a lightsaber ... that in my book wins so yoda for me :D plus he is a green midget ! THAT ROCKS !
Yoda is green and looks like a :pickle: and I need no other reason then that.
i dunno...as with most of these questions i'd have to say neither. faced with having to choose one anyway....it's hard, since in the original trilogy, ep 4/5/6 yoda was more huggy-feely and kind...in the new trilogy he was more hard assed and blunt.
gandalf, however, is almost always kind with his friends and fierce with his enemies...though this isn't the absolute measure of goodness it's definatly a good one...
i would say gandalf. even though he was involved in only saving middle earth and not multiple planets and systems, he just seems more good to me
a better contest would be to ask who is the wiser of the two
Technically, Gandalf's biggest fight was probably during the last battles of Beleriand, where the Maiar were instructed to destroy Angband and restrain Melkor. Gandalf may kill Durin's Bane, but he also dies (and is sent back by the Valar). His power requires that a staff be used, as compared to Yoda, whose skills are always there; he only uses a Lightsaber to defend himself against another Lightsaber.
Yoda gets to fight Palpatine, but he also dies of natural causes, and despite that, he can still exist because of Qui Gonn's revelations. In this case, the Force would overpower Gandalf's abilities, since in both the movies and the books, his ability to use Magic is restrained by the Valar, not that he uses it at any other point in his history, since Magic as we know it does not technically exist in M-E. However, as a celestial spirit, the powers of Gandalf are as of yet, unknown in their fullest.
But Raoul Duke would pwn the both of them, simply because he speaks for the author and voices his opinions, rather than being a tool of the author.
Gandalf. Yoda fell hook, line and sinker for the plot of the Emperor, causing the Jedi order to be all but wiped out and the galaxy to be enslaved. Admittedly this was rectified later but it's still a massive failure. Conversely, both Sauron and Saruman fell hook, line and sinker for Gandalf's plans.
Gandalf is sexier than Yoda so obviously he wins. :D
Gandalf said "Fool of a Took!" and "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!"
Therefore he wins.
Gandalf is just amazing, and while Yoda is cool too, Paul was right with what he said about him. Also: "A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."
Plus Gandalf has a nice staff.
in the movies of lotr...everyone seems goofy to me....but goin by the books...gandalf would win...and goin by the most recent episodes of star wars yoda would put up a good fight.....but would drop his walkin stick and gandalf would probably step on him by accident....
Yoda.
Little green elf men with lazer sticks that can jump around and kill stuff is much more good-like than the actions of a wizard. Yoda wins. zoom zoom zoom zoom *slice* :D
Raoul Duke, because if I remember correctly that is what the filter always changes Chu ck Nor ris to
