Okay.
I'm trying to find and anime from a long time ago...
Here are some discription I remeber:
1) It had good artwork so it was around 1992 - 2000 onwards
2) Kinda like a gundam kinda theme, but without the lightsaber and jet packs, instead with swords and maces and flame throwers kinda stuff.
3) NO LIGHT SABERS!!!
4) I was kinda in the past and the "gundam like things" had a jewel in front.
Yea if anyone can find out what Anime it is...........well thanks for helping out.:D

I also thought of Escaflowne when I read your description. I'm not too familiar with old and non futuristic mecha, though.

Yeah, you're probably talking about Vision of Escaflowne with the Mystic Moon and dragons and Lord Van and all of that. It's a great series.
