Make a difference? Death and Meteor FTW!
as long as they have mana, they are good. I dont see a reason to fret over knives.
Yeah, I don't know why they can't, they just can't. Bows make sense since they're backrow fighters. Yet, they don't make sense because someone who practices Magic wouldn't practice the use of bows. x_o
What? If you wnt a knife fighter, take an RM.
I think FFIII changed the Black Mages' default equipment from knives and daggers to rods, and it's been that way ever since FFIII. I guess it makes more sense since the Black Mages are mages, after all, not some weak and backstabbing knife fighters. :p
how come you dont automaticly learn spells?
You didn't start to learn spells at fixed levels until FFIV. =P
It's more realistic, honestly. Buy scroll for fire death spell - Learn to shoot fire!
you cant says its more "realistic" its a video game you cant connect magic to real life.
I'd like to be able to equip one, but I'm okay. Bows and Arrows are the better choice, anyway, because Black Mages typically have a weak defense. With a long-range weapon, you can attack the same as you would in the front row.

I'm referring to how knowledge needs to be read as opposed to just learning it with no partial knowledge of the subject, hence how it was a more "realistic" approach.
