King Bomb....BAH!
Ok... I'm in my mid forties... Trying for the life of me to get to Necrohol... AND I CAN'T BEAT THIS GAY BOMB! Everytime I get close enough to killing, he uses renew... And one of my friends told me, after several times of using it, he will stop... Well, I can't keep my health up long enough (i don't really use items , i have found i can last without them and save the gil.)
And I tried to time quickenings, but due to the flaw in the action time (which y'all have probably noticed) when there is a bunch of NPC's it takes forever for my action to ACTUALLY happen... So he ends up renewing.
HELP?

On my first try, I couldn't kill it. I just leveled up, bought better stuff then went back. You can make one hell of a battle chain killing those little bombs he makes. I for one, hate using the mist charges. I don't know how to maximize their use. I find them too weak, maybe it's just me but they suck for me.

It's optional. Simply head east until you meet the Moogle leader to do the required portion of the game.
Alternatively, make sure you can actually kill Bombs, and have enough HP, more than 2000 should do it (which means you'll be 40 or higher). Chain your Quickenings together by mashing the R2, Triangle, Square, and X buttons as quick as you can (don't be an idiot and wait for them to show up just by pressing each button once).
Your friend is an idiot, no offense. If he is able to Renew more than once during your fight, you aren't ready, unless you can stand long enough. There are instances in which he uses Renew up to fifteen times (this happened to me), so don't count on the King stopping in order to defeat it.

I beat the guy and he used renew until he went berserk and kept using firaga when my guys were oiled up. Not pretty and I barely won. It was my first time going up against him also so I was fairly unprepared.
If you can't beat him then you don't stand a chance in the Necrohol. That place will destory you if you can't beat the bomb when it does renew. I suggest coming back when you have better armor and weapons.

I beat this guy on my first trip to the Salikawood. It wasn't really that hard. I'd say I was about level 35. I just pounded him down to about half HP and then did a quickening chain. He went down pretty fast.

He was bloody annoying-must've renewed himself six times while I was fighting him. At first I thought the game was glitching.
He's annoying, but so long as you have some Fire Shields, you can mitigate the damage to somewhere less then "OMG WTF happened!?", especially when he pulls off his chain magic attack and chains off Self Destructs. That smarts.
Still, my party is in the low 30's, with my highest character being 34. Switching characters out who are running lowish on MP and having a berserk Basch go to town with the Francisca I got in the Bazaar doesn't hurt either.

i think i fought him late cus i was strong and i found him on accident but i completly own this guy lol.the renew dint even work to well cus within sec. he was dead

I lost to him once. Then I fought him again (level unknown) and nearly died. So I left the area and used the save crystal in the next "room". With my party at full health, I went back and pummeled it. Try getting him down to half health before quickening to avoid "renew."
-
I beat him at 30. Just berserk a fighter with an axe and keep him alive. Keeping Oil off your guys is essential to staying alive, and try and finish him with Quickenings when he is about to Renew.
-
Use the gambit Foe = any / Drain on all 3 of your guys and Ally HP < 10% / Phoenix down on at least 2 of your guys. They will drain his HP faster than he can regen and revive each other faster than he can kill them.
Good luck!
Oh and make sure you have good armor: Bone Mail or higher.
PS: The Baknamy at the entrance of the Necrohool are pretty tough and gang up on you. Levelling up is a good precaution.

I got the Zodiac Spear before any of my characters were on level 30. I beat this guy fairly easily, just used two good quickining chains.....if all of your characters, or most, have 3 quickinings you should be able to pull it off...

Kefka,
You don't need fancy weapons or quickenings to beat King Bomb.
Just equip fire shields to your characters and the fight becomes terribly easy. I had difficulty and as soon as I equipped fire shields on all my characters, the fight took 5 minutes.

umm i didnt read previous posts but i do know you can go in kill all the regular bombs and then run back out and cure yourself with the crystal and go back in and the regular bombs will be gone. then go in attack with all your might and when his life is half way down hit him with a quickening if he uses renew, jsut remember he can only use it a certain number of times. for me it was 3 times i dont know if its the same with everyone? i was in my mid 30s when i beat him.
-
Leave him alone and come back later. He's optional so you don't need to fight him, come back later and kick his ass (Unless if you want the Zodiac Spear).
Friendly word of adviceThe monster in Nabudis have the same difficulty as the King Bomb if you're underleveled. They can't heal themselves, btw.
