Small question on the ending of Xenosaga Ep. I (unmarked spoilers for Ep. I)

At the end of Ep. I when KOS-MOS protects the Elsa with her energy shields, she says "Relinquish your pain unto me" to chaos first. While she's out there, Wilhelm's Compass of Order starts spinning and chaos's hands start glowing and all that. And then her eyes turn blue and her hair looks like it turns blond and then yeah a big angel saves everything.

My question focuses around her facial transformation - I swear for a second I saw chaos's face superimposed on KOS-MOS's face before she turned blond and blue-eyed. Am I just making things up or is that for real? I haven't played Ep. II and III (yet, that's for tomorrow) so I don't need an explanation on why that happens, I just need to know whether or not what I saw was legitimate.
