thats cool,
is the one in the funny bandana/hat supposed to be Locke. if so i'm pleased because i did not likt the way they made him look for the FMV bits in FFVI for the ps1.
also wots up with Sephiroths silly accesories, he needs to lose them
cool, hope this game is great.
so its like a pvp? final fantasy style?! awesome!!!!! omg omg omg squall vs. sephiroth  :hyper:
man, i always just played sc:II and played kilik and just pretended that he was a korean martial artist version of squall in more revealing clothing (they look similar) but this is wheeyyyyy better!
Uh sephiroth was in the video! i know sephiroth when i see him thank u very much. he had a stupid belt on and some colours on his shoulder pad thing.
Kuja is that thong wearing lady boy, Sephiroth is that masamune weilding lady boy.
i watched the one that said "new" on it on that link
My bad my bad sorry I must have missed the part with Sephiroth my first watching of it. : P
I agree he does look stupid with the belt and shoulder thing looks dumb, but that being said, I doubt Square'll take it off. They also messed Kefka up pretty bad, imo : /
Kuja pwns.
Nice trailer. I so badly want a translation for it though.
Kefka's just a beautiful as I would have imagined him in 3D. The only thing I -don't- like are the joker lips and the fact he has really really really green eyes. Not being picky (okay I am), but I just don't like the purple going to his ears.
I like how he goes all high-pitched to low-pitch though. That's something I always imagined Kefka's voice would have.
I also acknowledge tha Cefka is the japanese spelling, but I'm hoping they'll put it back to Kefka for the english version.
hmm i'm undecided about Kefka, i think he'll be better when its dubbed but he does seem to be heavily "Joker" enspired, but i think he'll turn out alright
;_;!
I gotta play it noooooooow!
The voices are indeed going to be a tough call, for the characters who haven't been given voices before. Especially the likes of Kefka, who's been around for nearly 15 years and has an army of obsessive fans who'll froth at the mouth (and assail the internet with angry posts) as soon as they hear his voice and decide that it doesn't match each of their personal preconceptions about what he'd sound like. OMG WORST VOICE EVER, UR RAPING MY FAV CHAR, U RUIN MY CHILDHOOD, etc.
That said, I hope Zidane's English voice is a tad more masculine than his Japanese actor/actress.
There's not too much new stuff revealed by that trailer, but it was neat to see more of the characters and a little more of the gameplay. I do like how each character's battle screen and commands are based on their original game, from the old-school white-on-blue text boxes to the timed button-presses for Tidus' limit break. Speaking of Tidus... didn't Squall address him by name in the trailer?
I reckon they've got a few more surprises for us before the game comes out, too. The website's character section doesn't list everyone who's been shown in previews so far - I wonder how many more they've yet to reveal?
Translation of the new trailer can be found here:

*WHINNNNEE*
I like the whole high-pitch low pitch thing personally. Only because Kefka himself is a contradiction and I would imagine in his crazy times he'd be high pitch and his like saner ploting times he'd be low pitched. The only thing that kind of annoys me, is that.. well he sounds kind of retarded. Like the annoying retarded henchman villians have.
I am also annoyed by his little hand thing when he was waving his fingers. Kefka seems to always have crazy snappy points, seeing him JUST being crazy and not having the whole cynical serious to him is kind of bothering, but I also have to accept that he was in an SNES game so what I may have thought to be less crazy more serious moments could have easily have been him having crazy movements. Basically, what I saw as him threatening Edgar about Figaro in a calm snide manner could have easily have been him waving his fingers around, talking all giggly and crazy, and having some kind of crazy body gestures that aren't SNES compatible.
I'm assuming they'll get rid of that though. Essentially Kefka's insane, and.. well if you were a stereotypical crazy guy from an insane asylyum you'd prolly sound just like the japanese voice actor.
Problem is, is that Kefka is -INSANE- but.. well if he sounded like that in FFVI it would be VERY hard for me to believe that he even got anywhere in the empire. I mean -seriously-, I think even Ghestal would admit that the fool sounded like he was on 20 pounds of crack.
I have more issues with his face than his voice.
So you'll just get lots of angry posts about that from me! =D
Now that I think about it, Crispin Freeman could make a good Kefka. Observe:
Manic
Depressive (skip to 1:40)
The only reason that's included is becauseNomura is following Amano's work pretty closely (shudder):
http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy.../AmanoSeph.jpg
Amano's Sephiroth
http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...ra_art-Cut.jpg
Nomura's Sephiroth
oh well i didn't know that, cool lil tidbit about the Nomura and Amano sephiroth.
still not crazy about it, but it lessens the blow if the belt has a design history
So I watched the video on gametrailers, and noticed there were 10 silhouettes coming out of the fire near the end, and only 8 villians have been announced so far. So unless there were some defections on the cosmos side, I think that means we've got at least 2 more villians coming.
then again they could be swords or odd appendages... 2 of them look a little too oddly shaped to be characters
Yeahh I knew that. I'm just saying, despite my love of Amano's art, Sephy in CG with rainbow belt doesn't look that good.
And as for the 10 villains thing... there's a villain present from each of the first 10 numbered FFs, as well as a hero for each one (I think)
Garland, Palamecia, CoD, Golbez (most likely), ExDeath (most likely) Kefka, Sephy, Ultemecia, Kuja, and Jecht make up the antagonist roster, while Light Warrior, Firion, OK, Cecil (most likely), Bartz (most likely), Celes or Terra (most likely), Cloud (most likely), Squall, Zidane and Tidus make up the protagonist roster.
Cloud hasn't been seen in any of the images or videos yet, so I don't think he'll be showing up (thankfully).
I think we'd be hoping to High for Celes, i would love to have her appear. shes one of my favourite ff characters ever
Completely. I'd love it if Barret was in the roster of characters, although I don't see how they're going to make him agile. Vincent (groan) would be a good character to include as he's pretty air fighting-y in FMV's and the like.
I'd love Vincent or Cid to be FFVII's hero, but I'll take any character from VII, as they all have a connection to Sephiroth (except possibly Yuffie, although you could argue his involvement in the Wutai war led to the downfall of her town)
Zack would be pretty interesting, but Cloud's fine with me. I like Cloud. : P
What was up with that weird little board game thing that popped up sometimes? That seems like a weird way to battle. Reminds me of Tactics.
Something tells me that's how you get from battle to battle. My guess, of course
I'm pretty sure it's how you initiate battles in the story mode, and it's kinda to show how the heroes/villians are pawns in the war between the gods
I think I remember reading that somewhere...
Cool times 1000.
That cool was this trailer but too bad I don´t own PSP or have money to buy it, but maybe some day...
I paused when all heroes are visible during video, its near beginning and I counted ten heroes. I identified Squall, Firion, Zidane, Light Warrior and Onion Knight. These are my notifications:
- Next Onion Knight there is clearly some woman, reminds me Terra from FFVI logo.
-No spiky head guys---> no Cloud? I would like have Cloud for one reason, to see his reaction when he notices that Cloud of Darkness shares same name.
-Next to Squall seems to be Cecil.... in his Dark Knight form.
The board game is a strategic way to choose who you want to face off. Its sort of like, you control one character and then you move that character around freely on the board. You can cjhoose to face certain combinations of villains over other combinations.
e.g. You have a choice between facing Kuja or facing Garland next.
I hope the game is properly balanced. I don't want some super, over powered character (stares at Sephiroth and Cloud).
EDIT: Are, didnt see those posts. THanks for the quote, Crystal.
I'll be pretty surprised if Cloud isn't VII's hero. He's in everything else so I don't see the point in holding him back this time around.
So we only have ten characters from each side? No XII? Ivalice gets shafted again.
^I'm hoping that Gabranth and Basch are secret characters. I could have sworn there was a report citing Nomura artwork of a judge in the Dissidia section. Maybe Im wrong.
>>> Now Onion kid and Kefka, this mean we will also see something from ff5?.
I hope..
i mean i love balthier too, but i would just die of happiness if Basch and Gabranthe were there.
Basch totally should have been the main character instead of Vaan (i ignore that he's the lead, because Ashe is really) But Basch needed more time to shine, he ruled!
It's unlinkely that they'll do FFXII. The game had no "main character", so it'd be hard to pick a protagonist without making fanboys rage. Same with the antagonist, there really wasn't one. Gabranth did his duty, and Vayne wanted to free humanity. FFXII wouldn't work beings that Dissidia seems to be have very strong themes of Good vs Evil. FFXII's morally grey characters would not work in that context.
Good point... though for FFX, Dissidia's chosen Jecht as the 'villain', apparently, in opposition to Tidus. Despite his role as (SPOILER)Sin, Jecht's actually a (SPOILER)pretty awesome guy. He was a hero once, and became Sin not by choice but because he felt there was a real chance of saving the world. Despite being a lousy father, the final time we see him in the game is when he high-fives his son, after they've both made the ultimate sacrifice. And that's one of my favourite moments in the game.
Despite that, there's enough conflict and contrast to have Tidus and Jecht pitted against each other in Dissidia, so in theory they could do the same with FFXII. Basch and Gabranth would work well, for reasons of a spoilerish nature; same goes for Cid and Balthier.
soo.... seeing as how i dont know japanese, what is the game about? and its on psp? darn, i wished it was on ps2 so we could play vs other people (player 1 vs. player 2) like tekken or soul caliber. or could you link with psp's? idk how though. i just play castlevania on it :p
Take the worse crossover fan fiction stories you can find and I'm pretty sure you will be pretty close to Dissidia's plot. Outside of Guilty Gear, I have never cared about the plot of a fighting game so for me it all comes down to how well the battle system is. I have mixed feelings cause I've seen some rather promising footage with Onion Knight vs. Cloud of Darkness and Kuja vs. Zidane but on the other hand I was a little underwhelmed with Tidus vs. Jecht.
Kefka needs to ask Sephiroth "why so serious?". If he doesn't, then this game is dead to me. ;)
Looks good so far, but I don't think revealing one new character at a time does much more than annoy fans.
I don't think I'll ever get over his joker lips.
The real Kefka doesn't have those lips.
But apparently the real Kefka has a myspace.
And now I am amused for atleast the next 3 days.
MySpace.com - Kefka - 33 - Male - PORTLAND, Oregon - www.myspace.com/16640964
who is the onion kid and cloud of darkness? onion dude looks like a blonde sora. :( (please ignore my ignorance... )
>>> Onion kid is from ff3, Cloud of darkness.. I have no idea..
>>> You guys are missing the main point, in the end Garland will knock everyone down. So Kefka, Sephiroth, Gilgamesh, FF12 characters, etc. doesnt matter.
CoD is also FF III. :p
More Good News!
Cecil and Golbez Dissidia Artwork Revealed!
http://i36.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...ou:/et89i8.jpg
Can I just say...woah!
Which one is Gobez? The one on the left, or the one on the right?
Source: DissidiaQuote:
If I'm reading the blurbs right, Cecil will be able to switch between Paladin or Dark Knight forms mid-battle, being described as being "2 characters in one." Paladin form will "surge against evil with the power of light," and is then further described as "being strong in aerial combat, using quick movements as he plays with his opponents." Dark Knight form "crushes enemies with the power of darkness," further described as "being perfectly suited to ground combat with his powerful attacks, using bold and glamorous swordplay" and shown using the attack "Soul Eater." We could see completely different move lists for the two versions which would be unique for Dissidia. According to the magazine, if the use of these two forms is properly balanced, Cecil is one of the top fighters.
Golbez will be another magic-based character, described as a "sorcerer in dark armor" who is "surprisingly nimble for someone clad in heavy armor, attacking mainly with long range waves of powerful magic."
Poor Jecht, he's only one in the game who looks even remotely masculine.
I want Terra now.
So are Cecil and Golbez the last two?
o:
...and why so slow to reveal Sephy's opposite? Maybe he's all aloney?
Terra and Cloud should be the last two.
Ooops. Yeah, they still need to reveal the characters of FFV. I think it's sure bet that nobody from XII is gonna make the cut though.
Sephiroths enemy is of course Cloud.... of Darkness! Sephiroth took his first job as light warrior ( Luneth from III DS) and he encountered that bitch called Cloud of Darkness. Thats how Sephiroth began to hate people with Cloud in their names.
It seems that Terra is the one representing FFVI:
girl_gamers: Terra shots from 3rd FF Dissidia Trailer?
Aeris is Sephiroth's true enemy.
IT'S -OBVIOUS-.
Despite his origins, and his turn around, Jecht is still clearly the antagonist. No matter how you look at him. In Zanarkand, he harangues Tidus about how he's an inferioir blitzer, in Spira he plagues Tidus as Tidus tries to live up to his fathers reputation as a guardian. As Sin, the villian role is obvious. It's just like Golbez. He wasn't really a "bad guy", but if I asked you to name the FFIV villian, you'd snap off a Golbez, not Zero/mus. Jecht is the same way. I think its the fact that not only was he the overall antagonist (Seymour fit this role too), he was Tidus' personal demon too. Which makes him much more relevant to the overall story, and solidifies his role as the villian of the game.
I kinda guessed it would be Terra. They're prolly gonna have her Esper form as her Ex-Mode or whatever it's called. The only thing Celes had to set her apart was Runic Blade... which I can see being almost like a cheat code considering the gameplay.
WOW! I had no idea that Ultimecia, CoD, Kefka, Squall, Tidus, and Jecht would be in this! Now I have to get it.
I'm So happy for the Kefka appearance *o*!
Now I really need to get a PSP xD...
Hey, I haven't been online in the forum for a while, and i want to speculate about the story xD... is there some specific topic for doing this?... :D ...I don't want to do it in the wrong place D:
=D
Extra Good News!
More screenshots of gameplay between Golbez and Cecil, including Onion Knight's alternate costume, Luneth!
Golbez's Ex-Mode is a change in armour that resembles Shadow Dragon!

http://i38.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...ou:/5y7s7b.jpg
: O Those Cecil/Golbez pics are awesome, if a little confuzzling...
I know I'm probably one of the few (only?) people who's going to get excited about being able to play as Luneth.
Wait, what, can we play as Luneth or can we not play as Luneth? I don't know anymore.
Luneth's presence confuses me  I thought it was Onion Kinght... or is it both?
I've checked it, and apparently it's an alternate costume for Onion Knight that resembles Luneth from III DS. Better than nothing I suppose, though I still wish it was just Luneth in person.
The Onion Knight's design seems to be strongly based on Luneth's to begin with. Cecil sounds smurfing awesome and Golbez looks H-O-T. The roster is pretty good so far.
Awaiting an announcement for Cloud and Ex-Death. Curious to see the choice for VI's main character (please not Locke). I'm also curious about the choice for V. I know Bartz sounds like a given but I would be quite impressed if they overlooked him for Galuf or Faris instead.
I'm still hoping for a few XII characters as well.
If they pick Faris, she'd damn well better have Purple Hair. Not that blondefrom the advance version. :mad2:
But I could dig Galuf. I actually believe him and Ex-Death have a stronger Rivalry then Bartz an Ex-Death.
Y'know I didn't even think of Aeris until you said something, Ava. Now that I do, that would be really really neat.
And what's wrong with Locke? He's my favorite character from VI. The only problem I can see with him being in Dissidia is that he and Zidane are very much alike. And if Faris was in Dissidia (I hope not, D'yar, and doubt it, as they're already following a trend of main character/main villain) she'd prolly have blonde hair, as Dissidia models are based off Amano art, in which Faris had blond hair. The spriters felt this didn't work (prolly cuz Krile also had blond hair) and changed it.
And it can't be Locke anyway, as Kefka mentioned a special friend of his that was a girl, so either Terra or Celes. I am hoping for Celes, but it'd be more likely for Terra to appear.
Now that'd be pretty cool... there's just a much conflict and rivalry there, and she's have a whole different fighting style compared to the other 'hero' characters. Lots of magic and healing, I'd guess, rather than leaping through the air flailing around with a sword.
Maybe Kefka can't tell the difference between male and female :DQuote:
And it can't be Locke anyway, as Kefka mentioned a special friend of his that was a girl, so either Terra or Celes.
I have nothing against Locke, I just prefer Terra and Celes more and I feel they have more of a "main character" status than he does. Besides, the heroes are starting to become more of a "boys club".
Aerith would be an interesting chose for VII but it still would feel weird to not have Cloud considering he's almost everywhere else. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they put both him and Aerith in there together. I can see VII having more characters showing up than the other titles.
I love how this game is (almost) totally literal about using Amano's designs, since Sephiroth and Tidus contain the minor changes from his drawings. I would have really loved to see them use Amano Squall, though, since that would have REALLY played with peoples' heads. XD
And on that note, I have to give a "WTF?" for Luneth's appearance in the latest articles. Perhaps he's an unlockable?
I would love to see Gilgamesh as a villain instead of X-Death xD
That would be awesome xd
Btw, it would be great to see hidden battles with Weapons *.*!... I would love to see that...
I think SE said there might be secret characters, and Gilgamesh seems to be most likely secret character and also where is the Cid of this game. Twelve characters might be left out because they are saved for sequel or Ivalice characters will have their own version or they just thought 10 heroes and villains is enough.
I'm actually hoping for Edgar from VI, simply because all those tools seem like they would be fun to use.
Same with Blitzes, so Sabin would make me happy too. ^_^
Ooh, if it wasn't fer the "main character" status, and the fact that the VI hero is a girl, I'd love Edgar or Sabin (Locke's my favorite from VI, but he's too close to Zidane, who I like better, so I think I'd rather see Edgar or Sabin)
Information about the chess-board map:
source: Final Fantasy CompilationsQuote:
Dissidia's divided into stages, each taking place on its own checkerboard-like map.
You'll move your character around like a pawn, picking up equipment and potions on the map and fighting whenever you stop adjacent to an enemy pawn.
To move around on the map you'll need DP, or "Destiny Points".
You earn more DP by defeating non-boss enemies, and the more DP you have at the end of a stage, the more bonus stuff you'll get.
The boss of the stage is usually on the other side of the map, and what's worse, your energy isn't refilled after a battle, so grabbing items on the map is important.
A side note about the non-boss enemies, Duckroll from NeoGAF pointed out that they are Imitation versions of other characters. For example a screenshot in the latest scans show the Warrior of Light next to an enemy pawn that says lvl2 Imitation Kuja.
Garland vs Warrior of Light Gameplay video released!
YouTube - Garland vs Warrior of Light in Final Fantasy: Dissidia
Also, the villian victory fanfare sounds awesome.
ok, there are 2 conditions for making me want to kill myself. 1 if aeris is in it, and 2 if they use that thing for squall. im glad the vid had the sweet squall *exhales a sigh of relief*
Garland seems to be the Bowser of Dissidia, he's powerful and slow (or so it seems).
I'm really looking forward to this game!
Still hoping there will be some FFXII stuff in it
@NeoTifa: What thing for Squall?
I really like Garland's weapon and how it transforms. He seems more like Nightmare where he appears slow but once he starts moving he gets some nasty combos and causes uber damage.
I am now curious to see how Kefka fights...
Kefka will clearly throw pies.
Maybe he could have a bag o' tricks, from which he can hurl everything from self-help booklets to the sand off his boots?
Perhaps the mighty rapier wit will be the only weapon he needs? Why waste effort on a cutting blade when you could strike just as deep with a cutting remark?
I jest. Blame caffeine and a lack of sleep...
he will have a flower on his shirt that will squirt water into peoples eyes, causing momentary blindness, thuscause victem to fall on his own sword
I'm pretty sure Kefka had a weapon in VI... it was a flail or something.
He'll most likely be a mage like Kuja, Cloud of Darkness and Ultemacia. He should be at least; considering how important magic is to his game.
Personally, I think he should do magic tricks involving pencils... :)
I understand he has a weapon but I just felt that most people remember him for the "Light of Judgment" and using magic powers to mow espers, cows, rebel soldiers, imperial soldiers, small children, puppies, not so small children and many other things that can commonly be found in our everyday life rather than bludgeoning people with a flail that appears in maybe two fights in the game. :D
>>> Cmon square, hurry up and reveal exdeath already!..
I want to play this game now :(
Bartz and Ex-Death Confirmed!
http://i37.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...u:/28cdgld.jpg
Yay for Exdeath, greatest 2D FF villain! ^^ And Bartz looks... manlier than expected. And I love the shirt. Kinda makes it seem like he's saying "Fight? What fight?". Suits his free-spirited nature, though.
>>> OMG, that poor Bartz looks like a homeless kid that has been starving for days..
Exdeath looks neat..
Here's hoping Exdeath gets the option of transforming into his tree form.
Also, it'd be kind of cool if they could name him 'Exodus' in the English script, thus making it his canonical name from here on. Exdeath is, after all, a pretty silly name, whereas Exodus can be tied into plot ideas like the journey into the Void and whatnot. It's not like there's any real difference between Exodus and Exdeath in Japanese, as far as I know...
Who the hell is that guy in the pink box o.O
That's the magazine's idiotic 'pirate' mascot xD
TGS Has proved to be plentiful, including the last characters from FFVI and FFVII have been confirmed and revealed.

terra looks so cool, but i wish they had given her green hair
Terra looks cute man. Those bonus CG shots are so awesome.
That nagging conspiracy theorist in me is almost positive that the popularity of Heath Ledger's Joker may have contributed a little bit to Kefka's redesign. His lips were also never purple in Amano's art, so perhaps they made the deviation to make it less obvious.
But I don't seriously believe that. XD The Dark Knight bombed in Japan, from what I heard.
I will buy that just to play as Kuja.
Terra looks sickeningly skinny - malnourished, even - but it's good to have a female lead character represented. It's hard to tell from that CG shot's lighting, but they seem to have kept her green hair. Cool.
You know what's weird? Out of all those new CG pictures, Kuja is the most male-looking character there. Weird.
O:
I want a potion!
Ooh...pretty...
It's about time they released all the characters.
This is so awesome. :D
I'm really glad that Cecil (my favourite FF character of all time) in in Dissidia. It's also really cool how all of the retro FFs (1-6) are being represented in Dissidia. Unlike in Kingdom Hearts...
OOOOOOHHHHHHH thnx for the link to the french site with pretty pics. cant wait.
(SPOILER)squall est tres beau, n'est-ce pas? je s'adore!!!! <3<3<3<3 expecialment le pic de squall et sephiroth <3
i know, its been 2 years since i took it, and i only took 2 years. i slept in class. lol
edit: and i think it was especialment
Je pense que Dissidia est fantastique! Je voudrais parler dans la future tense, mais je suckerais a le Francais.
Mais mon ami dit que Dissidia est une gaspillage d'argent. Il est tres stupide!
That's cool. I hope the fights don't become tediously boring. I know how square is with new concepts. Like Vincint's fps game for example.
I'll have faith because the battles look pretty well done. They may just be fun.
i liked that game punk
and suck, i remember, is sucer. tu suces les coq. jklol
Looks like Exdeath can change into his tree form. Ultimecia's Griever form is dissapointing though.
Wonder if Bartz´s other outfit is some sort of Pimp suit. Game would have cool ending if in the end Bartz takes Ultimecia and Cloud of Darkness into his pimp van and drives off to sunshine.
Is it me or is that a summon or two I see?
Those look like summons and it seems like a few of them are based off the animations used in different games.
I like Squall's alternative outfit. I wonder if Terra can transform and if her alternative outfit is Celes? ;)
I'm really wishing this wasn't a PSP exclusive now...
omfg squall!!!! <3
Unless Exdeath can turn into a giant smurfing tree during battle, then his "true form" is nowhere to be seen :p
Still, knowing that there are alternate costumes is great. Squall's SeeD uniform, Ultimecia's Griever junction... it'll be cool to see what else is on offer.
Bartz is 100% woman though.
If you look well, in the second scan on its right page in the bottom-left corner clearly shows Exdeath into something that is NOT his normal form, but clearly resembles his tree-form from FF V, well, at least the top part of his tree-form.
EDIT: Made this picture to show Exdeath's Tree form does exist in the scans:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Elpiz...xdeathtree.jpg
Yay for Cactaur!
squall in the seed costume. Yes please, its good to see
I wish Amano's extremely different and somewhat-creepy drawings of Squall were his alternate constume. :(
i would never play it then if i found out
I hope we get to see that horrible, Freddy Krueger-looking face at the base of the Exdeath tree.
Or better yet, the horned-yet-maskless Neo Exdeath.
So, I've been thinking that this game wouldn't have any XII characters because then they might need to do something pertaining to XI. Are there any specific characters that could even be represented from XI? I kinda hope that Square won't ever really acknowledge XI as a mainline FF. It'll always be their MMO project, but not something that they'd to celebrate with things like Dissidia. At least I hope they won't...then I might feel obligated to buy it because I have no self control. :shifty:
XI is a pretty good game and it does have a few characters that could be represented in Dissidia if it had too. The lack of XII does bother me though. I was really hoping for a Basch vs. Judgemaster Gabranth battle :(
As far as XI and XII goes... I guess we can all look foward to Dissidia 2 on the PSP 6 in about 20 years or so. :choc2:
if vaan were in this game this game would be dead to me
Terra and Kefka's full artworks revealed!

Seeing Terra so sad makes me understand how Empire really treated her like crap and Kefkas evil smile makes it me giving more sympathy towards Terra. But I have to hate Empire not Kefka alone because Kefka is so awesome.
Oh man should I choose PSP and its awesome FF-games ( there is no really other games I would like to play with PSP) or is it Wii what I should go for? Damn why all good games have stay only on one console.
I'm really surprised how Cloud hasn't had any huge annoucnements yet. Usually an image of Cloud pops out and all the VII fanboys (including me) would jump out and be like "I'm definently getting this game. I just wish it would hurry up and come out though. When is this came coming out anyway.
Looks like the site's been updated again :p
I wish I could read the Japanese on the System videos ._.
Goddammit they made her blonde :( oh well I'm very hapy she's in it :D
why does 6 get 2 protagonists?
yeah, FF VI only has Terra :p
i really don't like how similar Ultimicia and Cloud of Darkness are...i hope they differ greatly in fighting styles...same goes for Kuja, i really hope he's awesome in this game :) i used to hate him because of his..*ahem*..flamboyancy...but i've grown to like him and his dissidia representation is really awesome
still hoping for side-characters even though i know there won't be any :(
New screenshots and info about Terra and Kefka:
ffchaoticcosmos: New FFVI Scans
locke?
Tina? noo Terra sillys
oh, i think i did. sorry. probably the pimp daddy feather :p
Tina is Terra's Japanese name. In Japan, Tina is a very exotic name.
Yessssssssss @ God Kefka.
kefka looks sweet. almost sweet enough to make me want to play ff6
now that i come to think of it, one of my main concerns with this game is the balance...i really hope that, unlike most other final fantasy titles, both magic-using and physical characters are equally strong and/or useful, because if physical people end up being much more uber than magic-users, as we see so often, it will kill this game for me
I wonder how this game will handle the spell Meteor? It being an ultra-powerful spell in most games, yet the end-of-the-world spell in one of the others...
Cloud and Sephiroth are the last to be revealed!
http://www.dissidia-france.com/img/temp/ff7_scan.jpg
Sephiroth's Ex-Form seems to be only him with a black wing, and no Safer Sephiroth form... :(
At least his Ex-burst is Supernova.
Also, be sure to check out the latest Demonstration video showing Ex-Modes and Ex-bursts, if you want to catch a glimpse of Squall and Zidane's Ex-bursts.
>>> Cloud the last to be revealed!!
Silly square, they keep relying on poor Cloud to make their stuff more popular..:D
*fangirl scream*
I'm both excited about this game, and a little disappointed. The reason I'm excited is because it looks like a fun and well construct fighting game. Also we get to play as many classic characters and villians. The reasons I'm dissappointed is because its coming out on the psp (and unfortunately I don't have one), and no Final Fantasy XII characters are going to be in it. I know theres a possiblity that they will have secret characters, but they probably pull those from the first ten games.
Did I just see Bartz using the Buster Sword?!
I got goosebumps watching Cecil and Golbez duking it out. Why does it have to be on PSP?! Also, am I the only person who is going to have Garland battle Chaos and constantly have him saying "stop hitting yourself!"? ;)
The game shows good promise, I just wish it was for a console system rather than a handheld.
This game seems intent on giving me exactly what I'd want out of an FF-styled Super Smash Bros. It literally is too good to be true. I can't wait to hear Kefka's NA voice. (DON'T MESS THIS UP, SQUARE!!!)
Bartz dual-wielding Gunblade/Buster Sword = EPIC WIN
Now is each character (or just hero) going to have a main storyline, or is there just one main story and you switch characters throughout it?
I was kinda hoping they'd have Aerith representing FFVII's heroes... but never mind:)
Oh god
What if Cloud's alternate costume
is Miss Cloud?
Unlikely, I know, but one can always hope.
:edit: That new trailer's pretty awesome. Bartz using the others' weapons might be something to do with FFV's job system.
It's a bit unfortunate, though predictable, that they made Kefka a twitchy, screeching lunatic.
Terra's fighting looks pretty badass, aside from the critically low BMI. The appearance of 16-bit Typhoon during her fight with Kefka was a neat surprise.
Hopefully some other heroines will be available as unlockable characters too:)
My favorite aspect of this game is all the love for Amano.

Even though Nomura is technically the character design, he's deliberately referenced Amano's renditions of the cast -- even for characters he originally created, like Sephiroth and Tidus. And taking poses right out of ancient artwork, some of which none but the most devoted fans would even recognize? That's awesome.
am i the only one who's worried about this game getting ruined? my number one concern is (as mentioned) the fact that the physical fighters will undoubtably sh*t all over the magic-users, which is what happens in pretty much every Final Fantasy...my next concern is that those main characters are the only characters in the game (even the 'random' enemies, etc. are just copies of them)...don't you think it will get tedious fighting the same people over and over again? This brings me to my third point: no unlockable characters...it's still possible that they might include some, but at this point it seems highly unlikely; this isn't a major downfall, but it would have been nice to see some supporting characters in the game. Lastly, i really hope square doesn't screw up the voice acting for characters like Kefka and Kuja and all the other people who didn't have voices in their original games
don't get me wrong, i'm really looking forward to the game, but i can't help but be worried...i've had my heart broken before ;_;
Is it really that hard to believe that FFVI Kefka was a screeching lunatic? I imagined quite a few of his lines being shouted at the top of his lungs. Failing that, is it that hard to believe that Kefka would turn into a twitching screeching lunatic in a heated battle in VI?
It's not too hard to believe, no, but someone like that doesn't usually rise to power in a major political/military institution. Regardless of his talent for warfare - which is debatable in Kefka's case - if he behaved like that he wouldn't have been taken seriously, and would've been an embarrassment to the emperor.
Also, there's just a hint of "OMG IT R KEWL HE R LIEK TEH JOKOR" in that portrayal :p
he obviously wasn't crazy when he was instated, he just gradually went that way after a series of events...sure, he may always have been a little kooky (i mean, he DID have the clown costume on the whole time  ), but it wasn't until later on that he really lost it with his hunger for power and when he recieved that power, he toyed with people and went crazy :p
and i know what you're saying about the 'joker' thing, that annoyed me when i first saw it, too, but he's really quite different...
Judging by the combat system I think you should be worried that its the other way around. If those magic users can fire projectiles as normal attacks, then battles against Ultemacia and Kefka may devolve into a pyrotechnic game of tag. This will all depend upon how the battle system will work out. I'm hoping for more skill and challenge than SSB but I guess it would be too much to ask for something on GGXX or KoF series. Still, the trailers have shown alot of thought has gone into the system so I'm not worried it will be terrible.
You don't play too many fighting games do you? I would not approach this game strictly as an FF but remember its a fighting game as well. Limited roster tends to keep balance and figuring out the mechanics and play styles is actually half the fun of the games. 20 characters is more than enough for a good fighting game. :cool:Quote:

As I said earlier, 20 is more than enough. Any more and we can expect more broken gameplay and possibly technical issues as well. We must remember that this game is on the PSP after all... 20 is a pretty good number though I personally would have liked to see XII represented.Quote:

This may or may not happen. Granted most people won't agree with the choices made. I know people who still hate any English version of Cloud and Sephiroth they hear despite sounding almost spot on for the work of their Japanese counterpart but I generally ignore the psycho branch of japanophiles and fanboys. :rolleyes2Quote:

Track record wise. SE has been doing a fairly good job. Hell, FFIVDS, FFT:WotL, XII, and even most of X have really good voice work. I wouldn't worry too much. ;)
you do have some valid points...i'm still wary though :p but yeah, as i said, i'm still really excited about the game, i just hope they do it right :)
If Bartz was a pimp before... The fact that he can weild the Buster Sword AND Gunblade in both hands now makes him the the motherf'ing King of the Franchise.
Hey technically this game has more than 20 characters since there are summons and Luneth is Onion Knigth´s other costume.
I wish there was one or two secret characters, maybe Chaos and Cosmos are playable or are they just going to be big bad last bosses. I thought Gilgamesh was going to be secret character but he is summon.
Lets not forget Cid isn´t seen anywhere but what is a FF game without Cid or Chocobo?
...Other than FFI.
I don't think we can count summons as characters. Though the Luneth thing does bring up something I've been thinking about. I do have a theory that their may be more characters, they are just costume swaps for existing characters.
Cecil's swords are more like a lance if you think about it so I wouldn't be surprised if Kain was a costume change for Cecil. Bartz using multiple swords makes me think Gilgamesh... Its a cheap way to add characters into a game but it should please most fans at least.
>>> Omg, thats chaos.. *fangirl scream*
How would the job change (an intregal part of Cecil in Dissidia, it seems) work for Kain? I'm not saying I don't think you're right (I wouldn't put that cheap trick past Square) but that might be problematic. For that matter, it would be weird seeing Celes Morph or Seifer using Lionheart. Only time will tell, I suppose.
Sadly, I don't think we would get anything special for the EX modes of characters in alternate character costumes. For instance, Celes would activate EX (Morph) mode and the game would treat her in that mode but she wouldn't actually get all glowing and esper-y. Basically, the thrills of the normal characters will be removed for the sake of playing as "alternate characters" but this is purely a theory with little basis.
in that case, im not really looking forward to some possible alternate characters ^^^ but ah well, they should be good (if they exist) for nostalgia's sake...
My friend and I who talked about an FF fighting game back in the day always assumed they would only go with major or lead characters. So it doesn't surprise me that they did.
Any thoughts on who will be top tier and who will be for beginners?

Some translated info from NeoGAF user Duckroll from a Dengek interview.
- The game's story mode is split via characters. At the beginning you can only select the 10 FF heroes on the side of Cosmos.
- Each character's story mode will have connections and links to the other characters, linking their stories together in the overall plot.
- You gain PP from playing the game and can use it to unlock not just the alternate costumes for characters, but also the Chaos side characters. The Chaos side characters will also have alternate outfits to unlock.
- To get the true ending for the game, you have complete the story mode with all the characters.
- The FF5 story mode has a signficantly different style from the rest.
- Dissidia does not use motion capture. Instead all the animations are hand animated to give the motion of the characters the feel of animated characters instead of being too realistic.
- The game is designed such that each story mode can be replayed multiple times and as you play you unlock more and more options in the game, etc. They say that it's a game that you can play "for your entire lifetime", lulz.
I hope Bartz has his own moves and that he is not typical fighting game character who has every time some random characters powers. Like Mokujin or Olcandan from Tekken and Soul Calibur.
i think warrior of light will definitely be an all-round character, making him good for beginners...i think magic users may be a little harder to get the hang of, so they'll probably be fairly high up in the ranks for experienced players...i'd say the game will be pretty balanced, all-in-all, so it's hard to say
Apparently the villains are harder to control than the heros. For example, Garland's attacks, while extremely powerful, are very slow. So only someone who's well versed at controlling him will be able to use him effectively.
As Kerrod said, magic users may be harder too - and they also tend to be villains rather than heros (apart from Terra). Overall though, I have a feeling the villains will be more fun to use once you get the hang of them.
Oh, and whoever pointed out the Amano love - nice find!
