Uh, 4 to 4 - 1, what do you mean by '4 to 4'?
It's part of the riddle you've gotta figure out. That'll probably be the hint eventually, though.
Ah.
Um, food court makes me think of a cafeteria.
Umm the fight against the BGsomethingorother in Fisherman's Horizon?
Here's my maybe flawed reasoning :p
No food court, plenty to eat. --> plenty of fish
Not from here, but out there. --> fisherman's horizon is kinda outta the way
Four to four, minus one, --> I dunno either 3 vs 3 or 3 vs 4 (counting the machine as an 'extra')
easy even for the worst. --> pretty straightforward fight especially without the timer
I have a feeling that 'four to four, minus one' relates to 4 enemies and 3 party members, could be off though.
Nothing to do with number of enemies or party members, Shinwa, and it's not the fight against the BG machine.
Hint: four to four minus one refers to four to the fourth minus one. Which should be a very familiar number for gamers.
AH! Okay, 255 is the answer to that little math puzzle.... I wonder, how many others are participating?
Sounds like stat maxing. Devour ability?
*looking puzzled* I have no idea.
Yes, 255 is involved. Devour, however, is not the correct answer.
Ack! I'm out of ideas.
Not stat maxing then.
Does it relate to item drop rate?
Riddle Repost:
No food court, plenty to eat.
Not from here, but out there.
Four to four, minus one,
easy even for the worst.
Line 3: little math puzzle, 255 is the answer.
----
Does the answer relate to Squall's gunblades in any way?
Nothing to do with drop rate, but due to me being stupid and not knowing the game well enough, I noticed the "Four to four, minus one" should be "Four to four, minus six." It's been too long since I've played this game, though, so please give me some slack.
TL;DR: It's 250, not 255.
That only lost me more... At first I thought 250 could be related to HP both highest and lowest (especially unaltered) but that doesn't seem to be the case... Does it have anything to do with cost of an item or weapon upgrades?
No, it doesn't. I'll tell you what it is as my next hint.
Eh, I'm a bit clueless. While your giving your hint - would you also give your revised riddle?
No food court, plenty to eat.
Not from here, but out there.
Four to four, minus six,
easy even for the worst.
Hints:
1) Line 3 means 4^4-6, or 250.
2) The number 250 is a value that can go up or down, but 250 is the max.
It's not stats, I doubt it's anything to do with HP... Choco Boy, is it linked to magic?
In a very roundabout way, yes.
Is it boosting Eden's Eternal Breath?
There you go, BG got it. Good job!
No food court, plenty to eat. - Refers to the Garden of Eden.
Not from here, but out there. - Eden looks like and alien spaceship.
Four to four, minus six, - 250 is the highest GFs can be boosted to, not 255 as I thought before.
easy even for the worst. - Eden's animation is so long, even the slowest players can easily get it to 250.
Ah, that's a good one.
I was sure it was boosting. My second guess would have been Tonberry King since it uses a Chef's Knife.
Here we go:
So many unanswered questions
Are there two minds or just one?
Is it an avatar or just a brother?
And how did it get that weapon?
Ultima Weapon? If correct, open round. I like guessing more than thinking of riddles.
Any thing to do with the Brothers GF?
Hm, any one can go. Give me a bit, and I'll post something.
Edit: My riddle, below.
One uses a childhood toy, but will obtain a star you can wish upon;
One wields a sword with revolving chambers - at first, but will later wield a blade of flame;
One acquires a double skinned and dual tentacled whip;
One will have an armored fist, but first has a knuckle protector;
One controls a venus nunchuck, and later controls a wish upon a waxing moon;
One has a scattergun of intrepid.
What are the names? Who handles what?
What do all of these have in common. Before you ask think about the number of times you read one.
are we merely looking for each playable character and their ultimate weapon?
its the party when Rinoa is gone
I am asking for which weapon(s), and who wields it.
Rinoa: Pinwheel, has a limit break with Angelo called Wishing Star.
Squall: Revolver, Flame Saber
Quistis: Slaying Tail
Zell, Metal Fist, Gauntlet
Selphie: Flail, Crescent Wish
Irvine: Bismarck
That's pretty much correct, BG-57, although there are a few problems. Nonetheless, I'll give it to you, BG. I hope it was challenging enough!
My explanation:
One uses a childhood toy, but will obtain a star you can wish upon;
Rinoa: Pinwheel is the childhood toy, but I was referring to the [I]Shooting Star - not the Wishing Star limit break. But a shooting star is a wishing star.
One wields a sword with revolving chambers - at first, but will later wield a blade of flame;
Squall: Revolver and Flame Saber.
One acquires a double skinned and dual tentacled whip;
Quistis: It's not the Slaying Tail but the Red Scorpion. Here double skinned refers to the Dragon Skin which you need 2 of, and the dual tentacled refers to the Ochu Tentacle of which you need 2 of.
One will have an armored fist, but first has a knuckle protector;
Zell: Metal Knuckle and the Gauntlet are the ones named.
One controls a venus nunchuck, and later controls a wish upon a waxing moon;
Selphie: It's the Morning Star not the Flail as venus is another word for morning star, and Crescent Wish.
One has a scattergun of intrepid.
Irvine: It's not the Bismarck but the Valiant.
I was able to identify the characters easily. The hard part was figuring out the weapons. As you mentioned, I wasn't entirely successful.
The place you'd least like to go
But you'd have lots of company
And at least one sometime friend
Is the big kahuna here
Haha, that's why I gave it to you - you had a very rough idea.
Hmmm, what's big hakuna?
Is it Esthar? There's a lot of people, but it's not place anyone wants to go to because the soldiers are jerks :p Also Laguna is a "sometimes friend" because the dream sequences only happen occasionally.
aw I was gonna say esthar... fine I'll guess that... one ... place..
with the... and the...
...
the place with the piano lady and rinoa's dad
Shumi Village?
None of the above.
Galbadia Garden strikes me as another potential option, as Martin(e) may well be a "sometimes friend". There are also lots of people here. As for "the place you'd least like to go", Galbadia Garden is strict and the only career path is into the military.
It's not a Garden.
Repost:
The place you'd least like to go

The moon?
Nope.
the jail
Not the D District Prison.
odins house
No, but you're getting warmer.
the white seed ship?
flying galbadia garden?
No and still no.
hm...
hm...
minotaurs lair?
edeas house?
that one place where they were gonna lock up rinoa?
It's not the Tomb of the Unknown King, Edea's House, or the Sorceress Memorial.
....
....
....
space?
ragnarok?
galbadia?
dollet?
timberline?
that town where ellone was from?
midgar?
Cetra Ruins?
Hypo, only one guess from any one person is allowed between each of the riddler's posts.
"Sometime friend" makes me think of the GFs you have to fight to get them to join you. The second line throws me off many scents, though.
Cerberus was mythologically the gatekeeper of Hades. You could suppose hell lies beyond the gates in Cerberus' animation, maybe. And perhaps Diablos would be there too, lending more power to the line "at least one sometimes friend".
I dunno. :p It's sketchy, but is it hell/Hades/something like that?
I know, I cheated
You're red hot, Rantzien.
The big Kahuna is indeed Diablos. But the answer is a reference to a specific place in Hell.

A place in hell.... Pandemonium? That would be the Pandemona GF....
Correct!
Pandemonium (Pandemona) is the capital city of Hell. You wouldn't want to go there but it's run by the devil (Diablos), who you have to defeat to use in combat (sometime friend).
Ahh, good one. I was tearing my hair trying to figure it out. xD
That really was a good one, dammit xD
Thanks. :)
Brava! Brava!
BG, I vote to ban you from making FFVIII riddles anymore, lol
Hey at least I give hints and don't gloat. :p
I was going to guess Inferno...but I had to look up weither or not that was even in the game - but when I recalled that there was Pandemonium.
Lets... see...
Find me around the world,
and I'll let you learn about him.
Grease might cover me at a house,
A monkey may also be around.
I can be at the house of an artisan,
who doesn't want to help the one who creates sculptures.
Where I most assuredly can be found.
Is that guy going to shut up?
Please, stay the night here,
You've saved a young one!
A bit of searching for this ship - you'll find me,
There on the floor - but keep the location of us a secret.
I might be six feet under,
You can have this - read it please.
I can be found in a home for children that a kind matron runs,
who have lost their parents - the war must be stopped.
Beat the owner at a game - you can retrieve something,
or you can stay an pick me up.
Our fountain is in front of our best hotel,
you can read this if you want.
Oh, dear! I hope you didn't eat that fish!
Please stay a night - you can read this.
The train comes and goes because of me,
You can read this instead of leaving town.
Do you smell the salt in the air?
If not, you can read me at the local hotel.
Centered for no reason.
You can solve the bonus is you want to - but it has no relation to the riddle above.
Bonus:
If you have one too many to drink,
You might see an array of lights instead of me.
What is the name of this location?
You might be more interested in the station behind this place.
PS: The official riddle might be a bit difficult.
I am not answering all of those.
Is this all one thing?
Timber Maniacs, perhaps?
Yes, it is all related to the Timber Maniacs magazines - Timber Maniacs is one of the locations.
I'd like to see if anyone can guess the other locations, and who it is that you can learn more about.
Aw, crap. I think BG's right. Be back on this forum in 2 weeks to see if his riddle's been solved...
Yeah, I think he's got it. It's not in order though :p
I think the bonus is talking about the Timber Pub. There's that billboard that tells you about all their rainbow drinks or whatever. I forget the details, but it's in the screen where Zone gives you the tickets after the Timber mission.
Once I knew it had to do with the Timber Maniacs magazines it was a matter of looking up where they appeared. I wasn't able to match them line for line for every last single one.
Had no clue about the bonus.
Yes, BG, you are correct with them. Let me explain.
Yes, the him refers to Laguna.
Find me around the world,
and I'll let you learn about him.
This one is the magazine found in the Grease Monkey's house in FH.
Grease might cover me at a house,
A monkey may also be around.
This one is the magazine found in the Artisan's House in the Shumi Village. The Artisan doesn't want, at first (side quest related), to help the Sculpturer - what ever the Shumi working on the Laguna statute is called.
I can be at the house of an artisan,
who doesn't want to help the one who creates sculptures.
This one is the magazine found in the Timber Maniacs office in Timber. That last line in this stanza, is meant to be Squall thoughts about the boss.
Where I most assuredly can be found.
Is that guy going to shut up?
This one is the magazine found in the hotel room in Timber.
Please, stay the night here,
You've saved a young one!
This one is the magazine found on the floor of the White SeeD Ship. If I'm not mistaken, the White SeeD are the most secret group alive - meant to protect Ellone from Sorceresses (Witches in the Japanese version).
A bit of searching for this ship - you'll find me,
There on the floor - but keep the location of us a secret.
This one is the magazine found in the graveyard at Trabia Garden.
I might be six feet under,
You can have this - read it please.
This one is the magazine found in Edea's House - which is also an orphanage.
I can be found in a home for children that a kind matron runs,
who have lost their parents - the war must be stopped.
This one is the magazine found in the second floor of the pub in Dollet. Beat the pub's owner and you can get the Occult Fan II magazine along with other items.
Beat the owner at a game - you can retrieve something,
or you can stay an pick me up.
This one is the magazine found in the hotel room in Dollet.
Our fountain is in front of our best hotel,
you can read this if you want.
This one is the magazine found in the hotel room in Balamb, there are two different fishes know to be in Balamb town. The fish that is referred to is the Badamb Fish, which is vastly different from the Balamb Fish.
Oh, dear! I hope you didn't eat that fish!
Please stay a night - you can read this.
This one is the magazine found by the train signal in Balamb twon.
The train comes and goes because of me,
You can read this instead of leaving town.
This one is the magazine found in the hotel room in FH.
Do you smell the salt in the air?
If not, you can read me at the local hotel.
Jiro is right, it is the Timber Pub - but that's not the name I was looking for, here's why:
Bonus:This actually refers to it's name Aphora Pub, aphora is a play on aurora.
If you have one too many to drink,
You might see an array of lights instead of me.
The first line should be answered with Aphora Pub. The second line refers to the TV Station, which is located behind the Aphora Pub.
What is the name of this location?
You might be more interested in the station behind this place.
Either BG or Jiro may go.
----------------
You can locate a bit more about Timber and the Forest Owls here - that is a fan site, but I find it very reliable. This site is another good location to find secrets - it's a walkthrough though.
You can take the next one Jiro.
Our friend is his idol
Though he fights with his feet
Faster than a speeding bullet
Can he outrun a spanking?
I'm still getting used to making riddles. I've only guessed two right ever, in like, 5 years. :p
that bad kid in ballamb
Jumbo Cactaur?
That's a pretty generic answer but I think you know who I'm talking about. It was Big Bad Rascal.
He idolises Zell, who is the friend referred to in the first line.
Fighting with his feet is a reference to his SUUUUUPPPPERRRRR MIRACLEEEEE KICK that he uses on Galbadian soldiers during the occupation of Balamb.
He also claims to be faster than a speeding bullet.
Aaaaand lastly his mother threatens him with spankings for being naughty!
You're up, Mr Cactuar.
Truth be told, I never even found the kid once, I just know rumors of him.
Territory of the gods for the eye of the beholder, but really the demons domain. After the advent from the moon you will find that no place is sacred
There's obviously reference to the Lunar Cry in there, but the first half makes me think of Tear's Point. There's some weird eye things or something there iirc, I'm not really sure.
what?
Basically, my guess was Tear's Point because there are some weird statues with eyes, iirc. Tear's Point is also related to the Lunar Cry.
Nope. I'll give you a hint:
Ignore then part about the lunar cry.
Er, is it linked to the Heaven/Hell Islands? (that's far more easier to remember the Island to Heaven/Hell - quicker to type for that matter)
yes...
the red dragon found at isle of hell?
no
Monster encounters on the Island Closest to Heaven?
Riddle Repost for Hypoallergenic Cactuar (altered to be easier, hope you don't mind Hypo):
Territory of the gods for the eye of the beholder,
But really the demons domain.
After the advent from the moon,
You will find that no place is sacred.
Hints:
Ignore then part about the lunar cry.
It is linked to the Heaven & Hell Islands.
Incorrect Guesses:
Tear's Point
the red dragon found at isle of hell
------------
For some reason, I think it is really linked to the Heaven Island, the monsters are very dangerous and heaven is condiered a scared place. But what would be beautiful in the eye of the beholder? It most be something that drops an item related to the moon (the word not the place).....
That is unless, hell is also considered scared.....
Just babbling.
Technically the answer is the Island closest to heaven... so go ahead and figure out who is next.
You can take this one, Shinwa.
Looks like shinwa is slacking, so bg you wanna take it? :D
Only if you're sure you won't regret asking me. :D
Nah, i wont regret it :P Even if you put something impossible as always :D
Okay then:
Hemophilia or Anemia, maybe?
Not something you want to get
Ask the hero's ally what it means
And he may or not be positive.
It's not Zell and his hotdogs, is it?
No, its not.
Vampire?
zombie status effect
No to both.
Sorry, for the lack of response - I haven't been on my computer lately.
Hemophilia or Anemia, maybe?
This makes be think of blood, either loss of blood (anemia) or love of blood (hemophilia)?
Not something you want to get
This could mean that it's a blood condition you don't want to get - or maybe it's something else entirely.
Ask the hero's ally what it means
The hero's ally throw me off, I'm guessing it's either a comrade or an item.
And he may or not be positive.
I'm thinking this relates to Squall - and also relates to weither or not he is correct in his answer.
I'm thinking of Vampire Fang because of the first two lines....not to certain weither or not it's linked to Squall or his allies.
It's not Vampire Fang, but the answer is related to blood.
Not really sure about this one.
However, if we're talking about the "hero's ally" I'm thinking one of Laguna's buddies. Kiro's Blood Pain could be the answer?
Correct! Your go. :D
Awe! I was off with the last two lines....rats!
Ah, oh well.
:monster: Wooot
Sorry for the delay in response.
A devil by fans of the occult,
metal meltdown through the air,
the mark of the beast brings forth a Tear,
weakening affliction and despair.
alexander
No sir
Doomtrain. Devil's number is 666, or should I say 6 Steel Pipes, 6 Malboro Tentacles, and finally 6 Remedy+. You find 1 Solomon Ring at Tear's Point......... Unless it's a different Tear you're referring to.
Doomtrain can cause Meltdon/Meltdown, along with other negative status aliments.

Haha! Oh man, that was a bit easier then I thought.
Let me think for a day or so.
Yeah, second frickin' guess.
Oh well, I just don't like to make my riddles so abstract that they're just a guessing game.
Three colors to choose from,
Two types of taste,
One will get him to move.
What are the names of these?
Easy.
The drinks you can buy the drifter in the Timber pub. You can pick any combination of red, green, and blue with sweet or bitter taste.
Red, Sweet: Mimmett
Green, Sweet: Tantal
Blue, Sweet: Curiel
Red, Bitter: Krakka
Green, Bitter: Reagan
Blue, Bitter: Sylkis
You have to buy him Reagan. All drinks are named after chocobo-related greens from FFVII.
Well damn, I think you might have it. Shinwa hasn't been around for a while so I suggest you take it anyway, we can find out if you're right or not when he gets back :D
Might as well.
Half as effective
Three times cheaper
Light the way
In the darkness
You were very correct with your answer to my riddle, BG.
I'm guessing Hero Water for your riddle, the last two lines strike me as a Hero thing.
Thanks.
And nope.
holy war
No.
The darkness line makes me think of the fight with Diablos. Any relation?
Getting warmer.
is it a spell?
It's not a spell.
then you have bested me once again.
Repost:
Half as effective
Three times cheaper
Light the way
In the darkness
Half as effective
This makes me think of the Demi spells
Three times cheaper
It's cheaper then something else, I don't know weither or not it is Gil cost or the stock of para-magic you have on hand....
Light the way
The Cure trinity spells would be the light of someone...
In the darkness
Diablos...
Is it when you use Demi on Diablos, he cures you with Curaga - no that's not it..... It's a spell....
It not being a spell has me completely stumped. I'm thinking it's one of those items like Meteor Stone etc etc. It wouldn't be as effective as the spell but it would be cheaper to create probably. I 'unno :p
Enc-Half?
I was unsure about the 'light' part, but otherwise I reasoned right. This one should be easy (I hope!).
Suspended ray or
Escapee
Two steps forward
It is me!
Something to do with the Underwater Research Facility? That weird glow that causes enemies to appear?
Nope!
Anything to do with the Chocobo Forests?
Nothing at all.
Suspended ray or
This throughs me off....
Escapee
Does this relate to combat?
Two steps forward
Movement, but I don't know what kind.
It is me!
Is it Jumbo Cactar?
Escapee does relate to combat, and the two steps forward are not physical. It's not Jumbo Cactuar.
ah nvm posted a guess to BG's riddle >.<
That electronic spider that follows you at Dollet Tower (SEED Exam)?
Not the X-ATM092.
It is me!
Makes me think of Gilgamesh, but that probably isn't it.
Sadly not!
ok then, Rantzien do you want to give a hint or something? Also, Is it ok if I open a new Riddle thread? this one is a bit large
We can start a new one after this riddle is done.
I'll narrow it down quite a bit since this was meant to be a short riddle. Hint:The answer is an item.
elixer or the thing pupu drops
Nope. One guess at a time, please.
Rename Card.
Nope.
RP:
Suspended ray or
Escapee
Two steps forward
It is me!
Phoenix Down?
Nope.
The riddle explains how to obtain the item.
Suspended ray or
Gained from an enemy?
Escapee
Running from a battle, or something relating to an event.
Two steps forward
Movement in a city, I wonder if it is found in Shumi Village?
It is me!
The item....
Rantz, is this item a Blue Magic item, or what?
Wait, baw. I messed up. It's not an item, it's a spell. I don't know what I was thinking... :sweatdrop:
To make up for that, another hint: the first two lines refer to two different enemies.
Not Haste.
Suspended ray or
Gayla - if I'm not mistaken they preform the ability Suspended Ray.
Escapee
Cactuar - particuarly Jumbo Cactuar.
Two steps forward
Number of steps between the encounters.
It is me!
I'm guessing the Meltdown spell....
I'm thinking the first 2 lines refer to the bosses X-ATM092 and BGH251F2. They both have a 'ray' attack if I remember correctly, and they both attack you while youre trying to escape different places (Dolet or the prison). They also both know the spell PROTECT, which is my guess.
Protect
That sounds very good, Kyros.
Shinwa Tsuki has it, actually, though I'm discovering again that I messed up - this time because of a factual error on DrSlice.com saying 1 Cactuar Thorn could be refined into 40 Meltdowns. If I had thought about this for a moment I would have remembered that it was wrong, but alas. This would have justified the reasoning...
Suspended ray - This isn't an attack, but Gaylas have the form of rays (the underwater kind), but unlike them, they are suspended in mid-air.
Escapee - This refers to Cactuar.
Using those two cards, you can refine items (Mystery Fluids and Cactuar Thorns, respectively) that can (according to my misinformation while writing the riddle... :p) be further refined into Meltdown. The refining in both cases would involve two steps, hence the third line of the riddle.
At least Shinwa was able to get it anyway, thankfully. Let's forget about this failure and move on :D
Open then next riddle in a new thread por favor
