The Lifestream?
The Mako that Sephiroth is inside in the Northern Crater?
In a Mako Reactor
Lies the Lifestream
Not quite true, but fits the riddle.
Yeah but Mako is the flow of the lifestream isn't it? When people die their souls return to the lifestream then create a new life. And Mako is drawn from the lifestream, without the lifestream there are no lives and without mako, there is no Lifestream?
In the Mako shell,
Lies Sephy (did someone already say this one xD?)
No, all of those were wrong... and my own stupid riddle is making me sad...
You guys are too unfocused... it's really specific... and... optional.
Hmmmmm... maybe if I gave another line?
In an un-natural powerhouse
Lies a natural powerhouse
Surrounded by past and future bound
That better? We'll see...
Holy materia????
black materia?
black materia was already said.
Naah...
Screw it... the answer is actually Titan materia...
Yah.. anyone can have this next one...
A name of peace,
a place of memories,
an old man settles,
and tells his travels.
Never created a riddle before so sorry if it's too easy.
Kalm?
told you it was easy :P
Twelve ways to see, twelve ways to go.
Take one there that comes with Throw.
She'll meet her fate, or will she not?
It's time to take back your spot.
The watery one will be your treat
If you manage to defeat.
Too easy...
DaremihC don't worry too much, your riddle wasn't that bad. I kept circling round a materia that was in a Mako reactor, and kept thinking of Ultima, but that seemed like you'd have mentioned the well instead. I don't quite get the extra clue though...
My guess for the new riddle is Wutai side quests...
Twelve ways to see, twelve ways to go. (No idea)
Take one there that comes with Throw. (Yuffie has to come with you)
She'll meet her fate, or will she not? (The scene on the mountain)
It's time to take back your spot. (Spot I guess being a reference to materia)
The watery one will be your treat (Leviathan)
If you manage to defeat. (The pagoda)
EDIT: If thats right someone else take the next riddle.
Yea, the twelve part was because the padoga had 12 floors, I think.
try 5 floors one for each of the people you fight.
cmon people at least check facts when writing a riddle or entire lines don't fit.
on Ancient grounds,
I die alone,
combined as one,
but 2 in whole,
a fortune lay within these walls,
only to destroy me.
As I sacrificed.
Eurgh im bad at writing riddles, but I'll do this one, seeing as no one else has lol. anyway. should be literally easy if you know what i'm on about lol
Aerith?
nope
It's Cait Sith right?
yep told you it was easy lol I really need to think of better riddles :(
I'm no good at writing them either, so I guess someone else will have to make one up
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh will anyone make one up tho, lol or is it going to be the same people over and over again :( no one seems to want to make them, but they do want to solve them.
ok let's see here....
I'm a person from a hidden past
A friendship that wasn't meant to last
You'll quickly strike me down
And tell me my mistakes
You tell me things
to remove my frown
To find it was too late
Ok, go for it!
I already posted one dude...look up
Lucrecia possibly?
that was what i thought too Reno.
nope
Okay....
I would guess that Dyne is the answer to My name is...something..?'s riddle and that....
Elmyra was the answer to the riddle that was erased while I was typing. Oh well.
Yep, that's the one, looks like your up
Well, this is not one of my best riddles, and it may prove to be difficult. Good luck.
I am that which challenges space
And time:
A sequence desperate to repeat
itself into impossibility.
The trademark of darkness
Channeling light
Almost unto death.
I've just sat here thinking of another riddle lol. its harder this time :D *tries to remember NOT to double post*
The lifestream??
Meteor?
No for both. Good guesses, though.
Holy?
No. Keep trying!
Looong stretch...Gravity?
It challenges space and time
Black Materia?
Not yet.
Knights of the Round?
The will of the Planet?
I am that which challenges space
And time:
A sequence desperate to repeat
itself into impossibility.
The trademark of darkness <---- created by/a symbol of darkness, fighting against light?/good. Basic good vs evil
Channeling light <--------------
Almost unto death.
could it be Jenova? lol I'm trying to think so hard
Not yet. Keep trying.
Hades?
Odin!??!?!!?
The Shin-Ra Rocket?
The Lifestream?
Already said abrojtm
No one has it yet. Keep trying!
Bahamut?
The planet itself?
Not yet.
Argh I'm going to scream, I looking into every final fantasy 7 thing I can think of and none of them match the riddle. How irritating! lol
Sephiroth?
I'm soooo gonna slap you if it is !! lol.
No, but Sephiroth is connected to the idea.
Ah a clue at last!!!!!!!!!!!
Supernova.
blah I can only think of Black Materia/Dark Matter or "Calamity of the Skies". which is jenova. unless it's something to do with the City of the ancients? or the weapons.
Wait.. Has it anything to do with Hojo?
Super Nova is correct! Luthien Rogue, you're up.
For those who are curious, the riddle can be broken down as follows. "...challenges space / And time" refers to the destruction of the planets (space) and the well-known duration of the animation (time). The "impossibility" refers to the fact that, if cast more than once, SN destroys the same planets again. Clearly it's just part of the animation, but it's an impossiblity if one takes the animation literally. "The trademark of darkness..." refers to the fact that SN is Safer Sephiroth's signature move, so to speak. "Channeling light" refers to the light (SN) that one sees approaching the characters. "Almost unto death" refers to the actual battle mechanics effect of SN; your characters will have critical HP (and possibly some annoying statuses) after the technique is used.
Right Luthien Rogue pmmed me asking if I wanted to take their turn on here, so I thank you Luthien!!!! :D, My riddles quite tricky, you need to think carefully bout it. So here goes.
As many things that could not have been,
I am the one, these thing's I've seen,
The horror of this mutany,
Has beaten the world so brutally.
A face amongst the light of hope,
While on my own I had to cope,
But I am not who I may seem,
I lived to see this horrid dream.
Oy... this one's crypic.
As many things that could not have been, [?]
I am the one, these thing's I've seen, [This could be Sephiroth or Jenova, maybe Cloud.]
The horror of this mutany, [Rebelling against something? Like the planet or the ancients? Or something more... mundane?
Has beaten the world so brutally. [That sounds like Meteor (or maybe Shinra)]
A face amongst the light of hope, [I think of (SPOILER)the end where cloud sees Aerith's face in the lifestream, but it may refer to Jenova... maybe. ]
While on my own I had to cope, [(SPOILER)Cloud had was without Aerith, but Sephy had no friends.]
But I am not who I may seem, [This fits with Sephy at the end and Jenova, and Cloud because he isn't who he thought he was]
I lived to see this horrid dream. [The whole meteor business.]
On a second evaluation, this riddle fits well with Vincent too... except in line 4.
lol nope sorry :D I thought really hard about this one but its tricky, but simple when you think like me :P
basically theres a couple of lines you've interperated correctly, but, you're looking at it all completely wrong lol
is it zack?
Nope sorry :P
blah........snoopy!!! sorrie woz lookin at my mousepad :D
Is it Tifa? Just a guess. Very good riddle though...
Thanks- BudSoda02 BudSoda02@yahoo.com
nope :) keep trying and thanks lol took me a while to think it up
mako/lifestream? or have they already been said?
Ok I'm starting from the simplest answers and moving up...ok, first...
Is it Cloud..matches his whole "I'm not who I thought I was story"
Again, you're looking at from the wrong angle lol. Sorry but you're wrong :( and Kyuzo it's a person. As indicated with *Who* in the riddle. There was no indication it was a *what* lol
sorry sorry :(
Lol dont be sorry :P you have no need to be sorry. I was just saying :p
Nope sorry :(, as I said, it's tricky :P but if you think like me it's easy.
Barret.
Nope sorry lol Keep trying!
Nanaki?
He lives longer than all the others...
i bet u its got to be vincent valentine? right?
I'm thinking Lucrecia actually not vincent.
I thought Vincent:
As many things that could not have been, (Maybe referring to the kind of monster/human hybrid type things like "the thing that should not be" kinda whoseit)
I am the one, these thing's I've seen, (He is one because he transforms into monsters)
The horror of this mutany, ( he left shinra and then attacked them)
Has beaten the world so brutally. (Not too sure.... Maybe the fact that everything is in chaos during Avalanche's rebellion?)
A face amongst the light of hope, (Probably referring to Avalanche, he's a face among the people that save the planet)
While on my own I had to cope, (He was on 'is lonesome all the time he was asleep)
But I am not who I may seem, (Could be referring either to his mysterious nature or to the fact that he transforms into beasts etc.)
I lived to see this horrid dream. (He always goes on about his nightmare)
Sorry Vincent was already said :(
Not Vincent,
Cloud,
Zack,
Jenova,
Sephiroth,
Barret,
Red XIII
or Lucrecia
And the answer IS a person.
Hmm... I'll try again... but use elimination.
It's NOT: Vincent, Cloud, Zack, Jenova, Sephiroth, Barret, Red XIII, Lucrecia
8. I lived to see this horrid dream. [Who dosn't die?]
We have (minus the previous list) Tifa, Cid, Yuffie, Cait (kinda), Marlene?, and the Turks... I think thats all the relevant people...
1. As many things that could not have been, [Still no clue]
2. I am the one, these thing's I've seen, [Like line 8]
6. While on my own I had to cope, [Who was on their own?]
Yuffie (before the party), Marlene, maybe Elena.
Those dosn't seem to fit too well, so scrathing point one...
Bugenhagen, Seto (not likeley), Rufus (again, not likeley). I know I'm missing some people...
7. But I am not who I may seem, [Okay... now I'm in trouble...]
I would say... Bugenhagen... one of the Turks, maybe. Tseng...
3. The horror of this mutany,
4. Has beaten the world so brutally.
Bugenhagen? (I think I'm on to something) The Turks? Tseng?
5. A face amongst the light of hope,
Okay... I think I'm gonna have to go with...
Tseng
OOOOOOO so close, but your final answer isnt correct. And I thought (SPOILER)Tseng dies in the temple of the ancients?
but if someone mentions the name in their evaluation although they dont think it is? would I have to give it to them.
after reading the last batch of reasoning I am actually leaning towards Elena not Tseng.
nope
Then it's Bugenhagen...
Please for the love of everything that is pure and good in this world, let it be Bugenhagen...
It's Marlene, I'm pretty sure.
abrojtm is right, It's Marlene,
As many things that could not have been, (to a child, these things don't really sink in as bad until they're older. she doesn't realise what's really going on as she's still young.)
I am the one, these thing's I've seen, (she's been a spectator through the game but she's been through alot.(SPOILER) She was orphaned as a baby, and taken in by Barret , she's see what happened in Sector 7, she saw Tseng (SPOILER) kidnap Aeris and she also saw (SPOILER) the meteor at the end
The horror of this mutany, (just refering to all that went on through the game.)
Has beaten the world so brutally. (meteor, shinra, the weapons)
A face amongst the light of hope, (In the end you see Marlenes face looking out the window, while holy/lifestream was doing their work)
While on my own I had to cope, ((SPOILER)She was left alone in the world after the incident in corel until Barret came to her rescue. then Barret left her again *with a complete stranger may I add, in pursuit of saving the world.)
But I am not who I may seem, (referring to the fact you'd think of many people before her.. she is not your first instinct to this riddle.)
I lived to see this horrid dream. (again refering to the second line)
Congratulations abrojtm
A menacing power I dost hold.
Ultimate power from days of old:
Ranging elements tear at their souls,
And weapons bash their ugly skulls.
KWEH. WARK.
Sounds like Knights of the Round, although the summon is completely non-elemental.
You're close, not quite.
I can't remember exactly, maybe it's the summon that goes through a bunch of elements? Typhoon, I think.
Wasn't Typhoon,wind elemental??
Is it the actual materia stone for Knights of the Round and not the attack, just a thought because you said sort of....
Kjata?
I guessed KotR initially based on "Ultimate power" (referencing Ultimate End), the combination of weapons and (apparent) elements, and the chocobo sounds suggesting the need for a Gold Chocobo. However, having reconsidered, I believe the riddle may refer to:Quote:

Alexander
Eh, I'll just give it to Masamune. The answer I was looking for was actually Round Island, but since you pretty much figured everything out (except for the hidden clue), I think it's fair for you to have it. Oh, and I mentioned elements because the animation shows like 4 of the Knights using elemental spells.
Fair enough.
Now let's see...this might be very easy and it might be very difficult. I'm not sure. Good luck!
I am the one that challenged the face of
the earth;
who stared down Shiva's soul only to
be undone by inattention in the
face of the elements and
by a glorified piece of string.
I am the perpetual challenge to
that which repulsed me, even
though it be done vicariously.
Uhh, the dolphin girl... what's her name again? Isn't it Priscilla?
No, sorry! That's not how I'm using Shiva here.
Jenova caused the crater 2000 years ago... but Sephiroth also threated the earth... Let's go with Sephy. :PQuote:

Answer: Sephiroth.
XD
No. Nice reasoning, though, even if that wasn't how I meant for it to be interpreted.
Meteor?
No. Your guess makes a lot of sense; I just didn't write the riddle with something like that in mind.
Jenova?
No. The answer is not Sephiroth, Jenova, Meteor, or any other malignant individual or force threatening the world.
Ifrit?
I dunno. That was just a random guess.
it's cloud? :choc:
No. Keep trying.
Hmmm, sounds like a summon.
Titan? Bahamut? Neo Bahamut? Bahamut Zero?
No, not a summon. Nice guesses, though. So far as I can tell, no one has yet used Shiva in the context I intended.
Is it something to do with the Great Glacier?
It's snow, the one that gives you alexander :choc:
No one has it yet, but we're now in the correct part of the world.
oh it's the dude that tells you to be careful before you climb the glacier :choc:
Why are there sooooo many riddle threads on this forum????
Sometimes there easy, but sometimes they're really hard!!
(It's like the creator made them!!)

Great emotion deep inside"
Who am I?
Seto.
Yeah, I thought that one would be easy.
It was a good riddle, though.
Let's see....
I hold the smallest secret, wedged in between
Two layers of the obvious.
I own that which doesn't matter, but
It may be taken from me anyway.
I can find hope, success....
If you let me.
And if you do I will reward you accordingly.
Otherwise, you gain little, and I....
Lose the little I had.
It's the kid that you can take money from...
Yeah, it's the kid in the Sector 5 Slums. DaremihC, you're up.
Wow... 3 minute riddle...
No carrots to help you this time,
1/16 is all you have.
No storage for you;
It is all just a fleeting memory anyway...
chocobo racing for you freedom in Golden Saucer
1/16 soldier?
Nope
Edit: for both...
sounds like the chocobo farm after you leave Kalm on the 1st disc
carrots, huh? well, the only rabbits I can think of are those monsters near Icicle inn.
No and no...
I can't see how you got chocobo, but haven't gotten the riddle yet...
I got chocobo from the races(the carrot icon that when you press O the chocobo goes faster)Quote:

I'm kinda hoping you'll give us some hints if I hold a candle up to the answer.
fleeting memory, huh. Lifestream? Aeris?
Two of the lines are references to another FF game, If you havn't played it, this riddle will be much harder. For you and cloud, concentrate on the second and fourth lines (the most vague lines) and you might pull it off (it has do do with chocobos).
It was kind of an unfair riddle... didn't take much time to make it...
Edit: This is very far fetched but here goes
The riddle is refering to the FFX Time race with the chocobo which doesn't have carrots to make you faster and the fleeting memory refers to Tidus.
Oh and many people believe X and VII are related(my too) taht's why this in this forum
No...
I edited the the early post take a look
No, but an ok guess... The answer to the riddle IS a part of FFVII, however. Lines 1 and 3 correspond to a previous FF game, whereas 2 and 4 are for FFVII (but your explanation of the carrot causes line 1 to work for FFVII as well).
Well I'm screwed seeing I didn't play that much of any ff game before 7
No, your not screwed... just think about chocobos, fleeting memories, and 1/16... you'll get it eventually...
EDIT: On second evaluation, Line 2 should probably read:
1/16 is all you get. (Instead of 'all you have')
You use carrots to summon Big Chocobos in FFIV to store extra items.
No, I think you use gyshal greens, or at least that's what it says in FFC. But, yeah, I was thinking Fat Chocobos pertaining to having no storage.
Fat Chocobo it is! Take it away -N-! (Fat Chocobo has a 1 in 16 chance of being summoned with the ChocoMog materia).
Well, it's been a while since I've taken a spin at riddles here. Must have been about 1200 posts ago. I hope this one isn't as difficult as PhoenixAsh (you take the prize on that one), but here's what I got.
The person that unravels.
The mystery within.
It crushes him.
Nonsense.
He returns again.
Out of the two, who is who?
This may need some clarification. I'll check back on it.
That doesn't make sense are you looking for one person, or more than one?
cloud...confused cloud and normal cloud...identity crisis?
Okay I have a feeling the riddle might be a completely different style to this (I suspect possibly a line by line deal), but if not I think its about Cait Sith in the Temple of the Ancients.
The person that unravels.
The mystery within. (As one sentence these lines make sense as two the whole Temple sequence, but they're split...)
It crushes him. (Well yeah...)
Nonsense. (Again not sure, there is the scene with Cloud and Aeris etc. that fits here, but I don't know...)
He returns again. (Cait Sith 2)
Out of the two, who is who? (Just a reference to the two Caits)
I think it could work, but again I suspect this riddle is in a completely different style.
Heh, -N- do people actually remember some of my older riddles? THEY were hard :D, I've toned it down since I think...
i was never good with riddles :(
PA's got half the riddle right, and everything he has said is completely right. I figured the last line would need some clarification, so here it is.
Out of the two, who is who? <-- All six preceding lines apply to two completely different people in completely separate cases. You have to name both people this refers to and explain why.
Good luck. ;)
edit: Quoting PA for reference. I hate flipping pages m'self. :p

I remember them. >_< :)
Hmmm, in that case I would go with Cloud, however thats already been guessed, unless you just want the reason...
The person that unravels.
The mystery within. (The Cloud/ Zack deal)
It crushes him. (his mental state after the lifestream)
Nonsense. (the way he talks after the lifestream)
He returns again. (Cloud after the memory scene)
Out of the two, who is who?
Very nice riddle by the way, I like the idea, though I'm not sure if I'm right as kyuzo already said this...
Yes, that's it. Glad it didn't take terribly long to finish. :p Either PA or kyuzo may go, I suppose, since both of them provided parts to it, but PA did explain the answer better. I'll try and make it a little more complex next time, but it gets harder to write than it is to solve. :)
It's funny, because to make this one I just typed up random sentences and then just stared at them until they began to congeal around an event in the game. It was pretty fun making it that way - try it out. ;)
Yeah I definitely liked that riddle, its good to see originality still coming up :D .
Right I'll give a riddle a go I think... I'm low on originality though at the minute, so I think I might rip off one of my old styles :D .
In the hearts of the damned,
Lies the scourge of the land.
In an orb and a bird,
Can new hope now be heard.
If the two are together,
Then the price has been paid.
So the question I ask,
Is just where was the trade?
This one should be pretty easy, espescially if you were here early on.
I seem to have forgotten how to write riddles... think I'll have to stop turning down goes so often :D . Oh I want full explanations before I say if you're right :D .
Orb and a bird... new hope... where was the trade... Fort Condor, because of the big bird seatting on the big materia orb containing Phoenix?Quote:

In that case, no idea.
Could you rephrase the last line? I'm not sure what you're asking; it's worded funny. Is the answer a place?
EDIT: Kalm? You trade two things to someone at Kalm.
The last line is pretty simple, and yes the answer is a place, but you could add more detail if you'd managed to solve the riddle. What did I say about having to use the whole riddle :P ?
The crater?
Well, it kinda sucks that I can't seem to draw Earth Harp and Desert Rose out of the first 4 lines. Was I on the right track?
I am able to draw summons out of them, though. The first line talks about Hades, then you talk about Titan, then I guess you talk about Pheonix, but after that, I'm stuck. Is that on the right track?
Ok the first two lines are referring to the darkness in cloud's heart and the next two are referring to his awakening by Tifa. The price to be paid is the suffering Cloud goes through. and the two of them together is when Cloud and Tifa are in the lifestream.
Thus my answer is the Lifestream.
Man I thought I'd made this a lot more obvious... Llanowar is the closet to getting the right approach to the riddle, although his answer is again way off. I see the logic behind Cloud and Tifa, but its a bit to vague, try reading the first four lines more carefully, and more literally.
Weimar I guess you're used to my lines having hidden meanings, and whilst yes this riddle does have a trick, its a different sort than most of my others.
I don't personally think its a problem, and it confuses the line a bit, or give away that part of the answer if I explained it, but there is a slight issue with the wording of line three. Don't worry about it (or think about it in trying to solve this in my opinion), but if you come up with an idea, don't dismiss it on a technicality about that line.
Let's see....Quote:

The scourge of the land, from an initial reading, could arguably be any of the following: Sephiroth, Jenova, Hojo, Meteor, the original crater, Black Materia, Rufus, President Shinra, Shinra (the company), its employees, Midgar, Mako reactors, WEAPON, or humanity in general. Or even something else. I'll narrow this down as I consider the rest of the riddle.
"In an orb and a bird / Can a new hope be heard"
The most apparent connotation here is Phoenix materia, which incorporates the concepts of orb, bird, and (new) hope. However, Fort Condor has already been dismissed as an answer, so I'll reconsider the line's meaning. Bird, taken literally, could possibly refer to the following: anything Chocobo related, or it could refer to the fight for 10 Phoenix downs with the birds on the way to North Corel. I don't think bird is meant literally, however, and this will be reflected in my final answer.
"If the two are put together, / Then the price has been paid. / So the question I ask / Is just where was the trade?"
Price can, it seems, have a literal or metaphorical meaning here. I think the riddle ultimately hinges on, however, determining just what is being referred to by "trade."
I fear this is off, but I'm nevertheless going to guess that the location referred to is the Water Altar under the Forgotten Capital/City of the Ancients. Hearts of the damned/scourge of the land could refer to Seph, with additional emphasis possibly added to Jenova. The orb could be Holy materia; the bird Aeris' prayer (flying up?), and the potential effects of Holy the new hope. If Seph and Aeris are together at the Water Altar, we all know what happens. This then would be the trade, and the price paid: a prayer for Holy, at the expense of Aeris' life.
Although that isn't actually how the riddle is solved, it was done extremely thoroughly... and a REMARKABLE stroke of fluke and reasoning produced the exact answer!
The actual solution to this riddle is as follows:
In the hearts of the damned,
Lies the scourge of the land. (This is talking about Jenova, the 'scourge of the land' referring to her past, and the first line referring to the clones, its all quite literal)
In an orb and a bird,
Can new hope now be heard. (New hope is referring to revival, which obviously comes from Phoenix, and also through the magic materia, the in game term being Life)
If the two are together, (Jenova Life)
Then the price has been paid. (Comes straight after Aeris' death)
So the question I ask,
Is just where was the trade? (The alter, the trade as masamune1600 said being that of Aeris' life for the prayer for Holy)
I think I may actually prefer masamune1600's reasons more though :D . Well done anyway, take it away!
Wow, that's pretty cool. And thanks for liking my explanation.
As to the next riddle....
By name we might be brothers,
though in form it not be so.
Though we serve the same master,
And in his service go.
Go before the blade,
Yet only one before the fire
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire.
Good luck!
That was slightly more obvious than I thought it would be Phoenix. What exactly was the point of the line about the Phoenix in there for??? Just to throw people off I am assuming since it has no real correlation to the answer in the end?
Oh well guess I have been dealing with the FFIX riddle too long I can't think in terms of a large event being the answer anymore LOL. Damn thingfish for oversharpening my thinking outside the box ;) ;)
And btw Masamune your riddle is referring to Zach and Cloud at Nibelheim during the flashbacks.
Actually, what I'm looking for is a bit more obscure than Cloud and Zack. It's nothing, of course, compared to the FFIX riddle. I can certainly see why you guessed them, though. Keep trying!
I am going to guess the scorpion and the other robot from the two mako plants. ( it's been too long dont hang me on not knowing the names.) Both of them fall before Cloud's sword, but only one is defeated before the fiery explosion of reactor no. 8 (I think it was 8).
Yea I went from the easy end of the spectrum to pretty obscure in terms of the "brother" reference, but whatever.
Guard Scorpion and Airbuster are not the answers I'm looking for, although the level of obscurity is approximately the same. Good luck!
I'll add a little clarification that might qualify as a hint. For that reason, I'll apply Spoiler tags. Feel free to look at it; it certainly doesn't give the riddle away. It will, however, make it much easier. For anyone interested in answering the riddle, I would suggest not reading the hint unless you're absolutely desperate.
(SPOILER)The "brother" comment refers to similarity between the names.
Cloud Prod? I think that's what it's called. That thing Scarlet and Heidger come up with.
Sorry! Proud Clod's not what I'm looking for.
Ok we are looking for two "people" in the game whose names are similar, but they look nothing or at least nearly nothing alike. They work for the same person. They both die I am assuming by Cloud's or Sephy's sword.(I am assuming Sephy's) One dies before (either in time or in front of) a flame/fire while the other does not.
aiding the source of limitations ire I would assume means either Sephiroth or Jenova. Which on is anyone's guess, in reality they could be interchangeable in this instance.
This answer will be completely wrong if I've forgotten how the Yuffie sidequest goes, and due to that switches my answer between the Turks, and Reno and Rude only.
By name we might be brothers, (The Turks, OR the R in Reno and Rude)
though in form it not be so. (Either the standard differences between Turks, or the fairly opposite nature of Reno and Rude)
Though we serve the same master, (Either Shinra or the Turks)
And in his service go. (The missions)
Go before the blade, (They fight Cloud)
Yet only one before the fire (My only idea here is of the Wutai Mountains, which I can't remember if Reno and Rude go up, if its just Elena or both, then I guess Turks, if one or the other I guess Reno and Rude)
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire. (They help Yuffie...or possibly Reno says not to fight Cloud, I can't remember)
Llanowar the Phoenix/ Revive line was to point to the specific answer Life. A new hope is far too vague a clue if I wanted people to link two specific words together before they could solve it. I did make that riddle quite straightforward, noone gets my riddles if I do them normally now!
No one has it yet, although PhoenixAsh raised a few possibilities that should be reconsidered. Also, he broke the riddle down in the method I intended; it's just that the references apply to someone/something else.
The Weapons? they're basically all the same yet look different, they fight cloud (as an option but depends on if you're on about options or actual ingame play) and the only thing I can think of about aiding is they give you items which you can give to the kalm traveller to gain a gold chocobo.
No. The answer is certainly more obscure than the Weapons.
Okay, here's my answer: Ultima WEAPON and Ulitma Weapon
By name we might be brothers, (Self-explanitory)
though in form it not be so. (one is a monster, one is a sword)
Though we serve the same master,
and in his service go. (These two lines I can't quite explain, but Cloud controls the sword.)
Go before the blade (one is used to fight Sephiroth, and one is fought by Cloud.)
Yet only one before the fire (you have to forge a blade, no?)
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitations ire. (One gives up the weapon to Cloud, and the other to defeat Sephiroth, I think)
That may not be a very good answer, but it's the best I got....
Oh! Totally different track, which actually may be a little too obvious...
Leviathan and Leviathan Scales
By name we might be brothers, (Well yeah)
though in form it not be so. (Again...)
Though we serve the same master, (Cloud)
And in his service go. (He uses them)
Go before the blade, (Not sure how this applies to the scales...)
Yet only one before the fire (In the mountain)
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire. (It puts out the fire, but it helps you get (maybe I can't remember) a limit manual)
No one has it yet. I like the way everyone is thinking, but no one has picked up on the meaning of the second half of the riddle. Without the clarification that interpretation of the second half provides, the first four lines are too vague to, I believe, form a definitive answer.
Is it by any chance Sleipnir?
No. Interesting guess, though.
For the record, there are two answers, and both must be named in order to answer the riddle.
Is it Ultimate and Diamond Weapon?
By name we might be brothers, (Well...)
though in form it not be so. (One flies, one walks, different appearance)
Though we serve the same master, (The planet)
And in his service go. (They leave the crater to protect the planet)
Go before the blade, (They both fight Cloud and Co.)
Yet only one before the fire (Diamond going up against the Sister Ray)
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire. (They actually work towards helping Seph, not the planet)
To be fair, though, this guess addresses two Weapons specifically, which was a departure from the guess of all Weapons. However, this riddle has absolutely nothing to do with the Weapons: not Emerald, Ruby, Ultima, Diamond, or even Sapphire/WEAPON.Quote:

Masamune said it was more obscure. I don't really think it is, as it's reference to 2 things. plus how does it refer to the before the blade bit.
I think that the characters/things we are looking for in this riddle have actually fought against cloud and the gang. Holy hasn't neither has Lifestream.
By name we might be brothers,
though in form it not be so.
Though we serve the same master,
And in his service go.
Go before the blade,
Yet only one before the fire
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire.
just as guesses, dont feel like explaining
black/white materia
or city/temple of the ancients
No one has it yet, but xlxRenoxlx made an important point. The answers to this riddle do, in fact, fight against Cloud and company.
To prevent pure guesswork, given the verification just provided, I would like to see how you are all interpreting the lines.
Good luck.
Is the answer Apps and Rapps, Don Corneo's 'pets'?
By name we might be brothers, (Apps and Rapps are similar)
though in form it not be so. (they look different)
Though we serve the same master, (that master being the Don)
And in his service go. (they do as he says)
Go before the blade, (they both fight against Cloud and chums)
Yet only one before the fire (Apps is weak against Fire magic, but you can't use magic against Rapps - no materia.)
Ironically to aid the source
Of limitation's ire. (I didn't get the last part, but the rest fits)
I've been trying to think of enemy names that were similar, thats a good guess even if its wrong... I was trying to work out a boss you fought before getting fire materia.
Yeah I forgot about the no Weapons things, I was trying to work back from the blade and fire bit.
Masamune can I ask for this clue pls? Are these Ingame things we fight. or are they just random enemies we meet around the world?
To Phoenix Ash :
There is only one boss you can fight before getting the Fire materia and that is the Scorpion Guard. because after that you go straight to Sector 7 and the next day you're free to buy Fire Materia. I think someone already said Scorpion guard so I believe that will not be your answer.
ForestOwl is correct! The answer is indeed Aps and Rapps. Further, all of her explanations are correct. As to the somewhat ambiguous final two lines, it refers to the fact that Cloud and company, in fighting Rapps, are aiding Yuffie, who in effect limited them by taking their materia (including Fire, of course).
ForestOwl, you're up.
I thought she might be/he might be lol. WD ForestOwl. Look forward to reading and attempting to solve your riddle.
Oh yeah, good point xlxRenoxlx, well done ForestOwl. Masamune, that was a nice riddle. Heh, compliments all round!
"In the presence of greatness
I stand and fight.
I am the protecter of hope
Though I'm devoid of light.
'What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'
A phrase that I stand by no longer.
My name is what you need
A name given by those my master made bleed."
Who am I?
I'm not sure how to use the whole riddle. The last lines make me think Scarlet?
Sounds like Red XIII to me sorta.
Him or Seto....?
It's neither of those, and as you havn't given any explanations I cannot tell you where you have gone wrong.
"In the presence of greatness
I stand and fight.
I am the protecter of hope <--- These three lines lean toward Aeris
Though I'm devoid of light.
'What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'
A phrase that I stand by no longer. <-- These three indicate that he/she is dead... me thinks
My name is what you need
A name given by those my master made bleed." <-- Uhh... dunno
My guess is Aeris!
It's not Aeris. If you look at the punctuation you'll see there are four sets of couplets, each with a seperate meaning.
"In the presence of greatness
I stand and fight. (The character fights during the game, I believe this could be Weapon as he stands before Rufus(who could be classed as great / powerful due to his title) and fights back as well as fighting the characters in the game.)
I am the protecter of hope
Though I'm devoid of light. (the Weapon's orignal purpose is to protect the planet from jenova and destroy her, but before they could be used the Cetra had already destroyed her. They then went into hibernation. But Sephiroth intervened and managed to wake and control them. therefore they are originally the protector of hope but they have no light/goodness in them as they are being controlled by evil at the current time)
'What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'
A phrase that I stand by no longer. (I believe this means the person has given up on the meaning of that phrase and feels that there is no point. or as someone else said, they are possibly dead. So I think that Weapon fits with this as he dies during the process of fighting with Rufus and his almighty mako cannon <3)
My name is what you need
A name given by those my master made bleed." (who has a master? the clones, the weapons, the turks (but Shin-Ra weren't really part of any killing ingame.) the cetra (their master was basically the world. The Weapons were actually created and given their names by the Cetra if I am correct, and Sephiroth was combined with jenova who wanted to destroy the Cetra and succeeded at times, then Sephiroth killed the las
t remaining Cetra (SPOILER) Aeris )
