My verdict is that you guys couldn't do this very well in the public eye. The major differences between this and the actual staff include...
1. People looking at which areas the existing staff are weakest in, via experience, knowledge and super awesome statistics in Excel spreadsheets (or just posts).
2. People weighing up the pros and cons of each individual.
3. People saying "No, not that person, they're immature." or "No, not that person, they're mean." etc. This is something that you can't really do in the public eye, though.
4. People getting all frustrated at why other people won't give in to their lengthy posts detailing how awesome someone would be if given the job.
5. Snide, unnecessary remarks aimed at other members of the staff.
6. A severe lack of posts. I think we drum up three posts for every post you guys make.
7. Too little 'selling' of candidates. You guys shouldn't need me to tell you that you need to give reasons!
I plan on making further experiments, though. I found bits of this interesting and have learned certain things about the membership, or at least the ones involved.
