thats why you should read after the series.
ive started with book one, but i will make sure that i dont catch up on the tv show.
ive read ahead with Harry potter once.. it ruined the movie

There's other books out there to read. I think I can hold off. After some of what happened this season, I'm in no hurry to read more.
book spoilsI think she genuinely did try to kill him in the book, but it's never really hinted to one way or another, I suppose. It's just that it happens when Jon flees from the group - Ygritte never follows him. And she only puts the one arrow in his leg as he's riding away.
The Harry Potter books didn't ruin the movies. The movies just really weren't that good. (Although they still have a special place in my heart, and I bawled like a baby at the end of Deathly Hallows Pt. 2)
Shauna--it's not a few months. IT'S MORE LIKE 9 MONTHS.
You guys are weird; the Harry Potter movies were great.
Speaking of which:

The Harry Potter movies are great if you recognize that they're not incredibly faithful translations of the books, and appreciate them for what they are. I guess you missed the part where I said that they have a special place in my heart/I love them. :p
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...pse0fd534c.jpg
haha thats funny :p
but about the harry potter movies: it wasnt ruined becaus the movie were That bad, but becaus i have read the books i saw alot of missing stuff and things that happen different in the books.
Because the books are better.
Of course stuff is different between a book and a film, it's called adaptation. In fact some have said the Harry Potter films only improved once they stopped slavishly following the source material.
Books will almost always be better than their film adaptations because of the sheer freedom that an author has in writing a scene. People need to stop comparing films and books so closely to each other without realizing that the reason things, primarily books, get adapted into films is to reach a wider audience and to show a different side of the original story.
Yeah with a book you have almost no restrictions on what you can do when in a movie or show there are obviously budget, time, and personnel restrictions to deal with. Which is why I like when they take a more creative license with the source material to adapt it to different media. GoT does this well in some respects (the Arya/Tywin stuff, Rob's storyline) and not in others (having Bran do basically nothing all season until the last episode).
Pretty sure David Bradley wasn't in Misfits, so you can't make good jokes about one character killing the other.
As an aside if Michelle Fairley isn't at least nominated for an Emmy or SAG for her performance this year I'll be extremely surprised.
major, major Season 4 spoilersShe's also been cast for Suits. Not that Stoneheart is going to be a particularly large role, but I hope this doesn't mean she's leaving the show.
Spoilers for A Feast For CrowsLady Stoneheart only appears twice in the text so far, so you're right that it may be a smaller role, but Michelle Fairley has read the books and hints that Lady Stoneheart will be coming in one of her interviews about the Red Wedding.
re:abovethat'd be.... the epilogue for Storm of Swords, and when the Brotherhood captures Brienne? Honestly thought it was more than that.
We're off to see the Raven, the Raven beyond the Wall.
Bran = Dorothy
Hodor = Lion
Meera = Scarecrow
Jojen = Tinman
Summer = Toto
additional major season 4 spoilersI imagine we're probably going to see Dondarrion revive Catelyn onscreen, and I wouldn't be surprised if they write in additional scenes for her to have things to do as well. But you're right, now that I think about it I think she only makes two onscreen appearances in the text as Stoneheart so far.
re:aboveI hope that if we see him revive her on screen, I want it to be a flashback. I consider the revelation of Lady Stoneheart the best scene in the entire series so far, even better than the Red Wedding. It's just totally out of nowhere, and happens so quickly, it's just like WHAT THE smurf. Those moments are awesome BECAUSE you're left blind-sided, and I don't think it'd have as much impact if her being revived was shown, unless it was retroactively.
GUYS I'VE FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THEON AND ASHA/YARA'S PROBLEM
It was so obvious all along!
only if they have dr frankenstein in service :o
buuuttt for the rest: shall we go back to the main topic where i (and some others:P) can talk along pls? xD
im only at the beginning of the first book you know :(
i hope Jaime doesnt go back to his old self now that he is back in Kingslanding.
i do believe he has chanced
I think it's fair to assume he'll never return to his old self. In saying that it's also fair to assume he'll get over his recent horrors and become stronger again, both mentally and physically.
The more I watch this show the more Jaime becomes a really interesting character. I mean, he was interesting to start with, but not THIS interesting.
I think he has some of the most realistic character development. Maybe not necessarily the events that bring on the changes (let's be real, a lot of the stuff in this series is very fantastical!), but how he is handled. I'd say as of right now, show-wise, he's the most developed character.
I think I'm the only person in the world who thinks he was way cooler at the start of the show and is fairly boring now. Genuinely see him as a mopey bloke who does the right thing every now and then, much like Squall was at the start of FFVIII.
i thought Joffrey´s wedding would be the season´s finale
What are you on about, Daniel? Jaime is mopier than ever.
Squall goes from mopey to not mopey though.
u think ur so clever n edgy dont you psyudchotic
#shotsfired
Ooooohhhh it's on now
I think Jaime was cooler and an enjoyable magnificent bastard at the start, but he is a far better character now. It's a shame there are no equivalent MBs around, though.

'Game of Thrones' casts major season 4 role: Oberyn the Red Viper | Inside TV | EW.com
lol i read that just a sec before i came here ^^
Thread title should be changed to Waiting Game of Thrones.
When you play the game of thrones, you wait or GRRM dies.
At least Benioff and Weiss know how the story ends so if GRRM kicks the bucket they can still finish the show.
with a face like thatI cant wait to see his duel with Ser Gregor.

Sherlock actor Mark Gatiss cast in season 4.
Some people in the comments think he'll be Mace Tyrell.
oooooo
Oooo, indeed. X3
And on top of casting news,
Game of Thrones garners 17 Emmy noms!... including a couple nom-noms for "The Rains of Castamere."
17 Emmy noms?? Damn, they gettin' busy.
Of all the people they choose Emilia Clarke. Just (another) bit of proof that the Emmys are hacks.
Michelle Fairley deserved the nom, by far.
Yeah, I felt the same. -____-;;
Not that I don't like Emilia Clarke, but c'mon, if they're going to pick someone from the GoT cast she isn't even in my top 5.
For the record, I really did think Emilia Clarke made a lot of improvements this season, and she's finally learning to act. Except that one time she looked straight into the goddamn camera. :stare:
But there are other women on that show that are much more deserving of the nod.
So at the Game of Thrones Comic Con panel, they played this in memoriam:
I found it funny in some parts and sad in others (I guess that's what I get for being so emotionally invested in fictional characters). Also, spoilers if you're not caught up.
They just had to go from funny to sad like that. WTF.
talking about dogs.. do you think Arya and Nymeria (her direwolf she chased away to save) will ever be reunited?
In any other series, of course they would. With GRRM it's quite possible they won't be, but they goddamn well better be.
Chances are Nymeria will eat her or something.
Not alive, though. That'd be too cruel.
The story ends with Nymeria sitting on the Iron Throne and every human but the Starks enslaved by her dire wolf army.
Still a better monarch than Joffrey.
i was reading the book and all the sudden i remembered that till so far there has been no sign of Nymeria in the tv show
dont wory, i wont spoile anything (i cant anyway).. im only about 1/2 first book
Could be the lighting, but she looks waaay too old to be Ellaria.
I liked this actress in Luther and her 2-3 eps in Torchwood, so I'm supportive of her being in the show. I don't remember how old Ellaria is supposed to be, though.
Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for BenWeiss to not smurf up Arianne's casting.
I think she's supposed to be in her early 30s. This actress looks like she's in her mid 40s.
WELL STILL
Eh, I'll see how she acts the role before I make any other judgments. :D She's bound to be better than Emilia Clarke, at least.
Ellaria Sand is absolutely perfectly cast in my eyes. I know the actress too.
Ellaria Sand's age is never mentioned but it stands to reason she'd be late 30s, early 40s.
How do you know her, Cuch? That's kind of cool.
Being familiar with her work in Human Target and Torchwood, I can confidently say that she'll be great in the role.
These Close-Ups Of "Game Of Thrones" Fashion Will Take Your Breath Away
It's a shame they can't shoot the series in, like, 10800p or something. Holy trout. Michele Carragher deserves an Emmy or something.
Holy burrito, I never would've noticed those details. Does the designer have like a team of slave children with their tiny fingers construct these?
The attention to detail is very impressive, especially for things most viewers wouldn't even notice.
It's definitely a shame that gorgeous details like that go unnoticed so easily, but at the same time it all adds to the great atmosphere even if you don't consciously notice it.
Edit: Just noticed the acorns on Arya's thing, that's awesome. Did she ever even go to Acorn Hall in the show? I don't think she did.
Nope. No Acorn Hall. D:
Man, the embroidery is crazy. It makes the costumes ten times more amazing and the characters look ten times richer than they already are, somehow.
Always thought Catelyn's collar looked gross and like it was falling apart. I didn't realize it was embroidery that was making it textured, not the ravages of travel and war and wearing the same outfit for 2 years.
I didn't know Ellaria Sand was from Somerset. Awesome.
Crazy embroidery. We need better resolution and bigger TVs :))
Roger Ashton-Griffiths has been cast as Mace Tyrell.

Book Description
He is handsome and a once powerful looking man, but has since turned to fat. He has curly brown hair and cuts his beard into a triangular shape that has white spots within it.
He is a prematurely old and tedious man lacking in political savvy. His sole military accomplishment was the Siege of Storm's End. Though he has tried to use the Battle of Ashford as evidence of strategic brilliance, he actually had little to do with the fighting as the battle was won by his vanguard, led by Randyll Tarly, before his main force entered the field.
Couldnt be further from it if they tried
Does any one know when the S3 dvd will release?
About two weeks before season four starts, if previous releases are any indication.
That's too bad. I was hoping it would be sooner. Agh. Now that I finally got to watch all of season 2 and seen all the different detials added and changes, I'm more comfortable with how the story is going, to some degree. Disappointed with the battle at the Blackwater Bay, but budget must have been the reason it was kept so short.
For anyone interested in Westerosi history, an excerpt of The Princess and the Queen, GRRM's novella in his upcoming anthology, has been released on Tor.com, along with a review!
I really need to read those novellas. They'll help me fill the void until the show returns.
The same things were said about Brienne after her casting was announced.
I'm with Bunny. I generally suspend skepticism about casting until I see the character in action.
I suspend judgement, but I allow myself to be skeptic/wonder. :p

I don't remember if this was ever posted but whatevs!
I've seen it before, but I watched it again because it's pretty great.
haha that ´95 intro is funny xD
It's funny. I think it would've been way funnier if they had've chosen I'll Be There for You or something as painfully chipper and awful 90s as the main theme.
That one's just ok. Not as good as the other one, which could literally be the intro if this show existed in 1995.
That was my thought as well.
Daario has been recast. The new actor is Michiel Huisman. This guy
http://trialx.com/curetalk/wp-conten..._Huisman-1.jpg
10/10 I APPROVE
Re-castings always bum me out, but he looks like a good Daario at least.
I don't even remember who Daario is. Too many damn characters to keep track of in this show.
Daario is the guy who flirted with Dany by bringing her his partners' heads and then helped Jorah and Barristan ransack Yunkai.
Oh! Neat! I thought the actor who played him originally was a bit too... I dunno smirk-y. He liked to smirk a lot. Although maybe that was the character and not the actor.
Daario is a very smirky character. xD
I HOPE WE GET OUR BLUE BEARD THIS TIME DAMN IT
Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane has been recast again.

Yea i didn't like the season 2 mountain. Too wirey. Conan Stevens was perfect but as we all know he's still tied up in the Hobbit films. I'll see how this new fella does but he's certainly big enough.
not as epic as the '90's style, but its something ^^

Well, he's very mountain-like.
How do those giant hands work simple electronics like small phones o.o
One press of the finger and it'd open like 6 apps!
haha maybe he has a little pen-like thing in his pocket at all times for these things :P
Gregor Clegane has cell phones?
Yah you can see something in his pocket! He probably does use those stylus things.
I was comically missing the point by implying there was cell phone technology in Westeros but it obviously wasn't executed very clearly since apparently no one got it :(Quote:
Yah you can see something in his pocket! He probably does use those stylus things.
@Paula, I don't get the last one of those; was there a recasting announcement I missed?
Ah, yes, now it makes sense :monster:
Season Four is the season of the recastings.
In Tommen's case, it makes sense. He's a very minor character so far, and naturally, when he becomes more prominent, and heck, I guess older, he'd need to change. I can understand Tommen's recasting.
The Wertzone: Casting and recasting news for GAME OF THRONES

Just found out Bronze Yohn Royce has been cast (Rupert Vansittart). Such a minor character (so far) but has an amazing presence. I'm sure he has a bigger future in the books is George advised his casting. Also cast has been Lady Anya Waynwood (Paola Dionisotti).
Surpised to see Dontos Hollard return, probably an expansion of the Sansa story, returning a bit to the books.
That's pretty interesting. It seems a certain big event is going to happen early and the Lords Declarant arc will be happening soon; I don't see them introducing all those characters in the last episode if the second big big jaw-dropping event of ASoS is the penultimate episode. So this season should cover a good deal of Feast.
George better keep writing. They could overtake him by 2015 at this rate.
I think he'll probably be okay for The Winds of Winter, but he is most certainly screwed for A Dream of Spring.

So there's rumors of telltale games working on a Game of Thrones game. Telltale recently said they are excited about their "dream IP" but haven't confirmed.
If you haven't played The Walking Dead game by telltale, do it. It's amazing. Easily one of the best games in this past generations. Not a Zombie fan? Try their new Wolf Among Us. It's based on the fables comic book that interacts with fables, like the big bad wolf(for which it gets its name), in modern NYC. Telltale games are released in episodic portions and focus heavily on character development and player choices. So your interactions willc arry and effect each new installment. They are awesome. Play them.
I hope GoT is part of telltale's line up because with all the troutty GoT themed games, telltale would do it justice. The only reservation i have is the art style may not work well with the GoT lore. But it worked for zombies so what the heck!
THE WOLF AMONG US IS FANTASTIC
The artwork got even better with The Wolf Among Us from Walking Dead. The animation is what interested me in the first place.
Tell-Tale Games seem to like to work off of new storylines rather than ones they are based on, more like they use the universe and some characters to make a game out of it. From what I'm aware of, TWAU is based on the universe of Fables, but it's more of an "after the fact" story from the comics. TWD is similar - same universe and some characters, different storyline than the show (and comics, I think). This would be interesting with Game of Thrones because there's so much to work with.
I will totally play any and all Tell-Tale Games, especially a GoT one.
