Hey PhoenixAsh! You said you'd give the answer after a few guesses. I suggest you do this by opening a new thread. I think 2000 was a high enough post and it's since gone beyond that. If anyone manages to guess the answer, I suggest they make their new riddle in another thread. Just a suggestion.

Well I quite like the post count, but either way if someone wants to kick off a new thread, I'll answer in here for some consistency though. Really surprised noone got this...
From rags to riches he went, (North Corel to Gold Saucer)
To what could hold the cup of Midas. (What else would you use to hold Midas' cup BUT a gold saucer? Man I crack myself up :D )
As a champion,
He stood against the rain. (These refer to winning the Parasol in the Speed Square)
As a failure,
All he could do was wipe his tears. (This refers to getting a Tissue for losing)
But he was not a selfish man,
He gave his gift away. (All the lines point to the Gold Saucer and it's prizes, if you've got this far then the only 'gift' this riddle talks about is the Parasol, which is given to AERIS)
So yeah, Aeris is the answer, once you cracked the Gold Saucer hints, I didn't think that would be much of a problem... Oh well, guess I need to keep toning down :P .
That riddle had nothing to do with the parasol or Aeris. Sorry. I'm gonna start a new thread now. Look for FF7 Riddles Part Trois! I'm sorry, that's actually Part Deux!

Yeah I don't really see why we need a new one, but whatever. I also stand by that riddle unless other people think it was bad. I often admit that my riddles are hard, but I actually don't think I made that one vague at all...
I think we would have gotten there with a few more posts. All someone had to do was make the final connection between rain and the Umbrella.
Y'know, we COULD just keep posting in this one. And I think your riddle was legit.
