Sounds like Zanakand Temple.
When you first go there, you find out the truth of Final Aeons and Sin.
You can go back later to retrieve an item to unlock Anima.
In FFX-2 you have to deal with monkeys (simians).

BG gets it! not that i'm surprised :D
btw i apolgise for how appalling that riddle was! i need to find my love for this thread again! ;)
Here we go:
Capricious and free
Like the Tarot card
The perfect shape
If you catch my drift
good one
Spherimorph comes to mind.
Capricious and free - This perhaps refers to the randomness of its elemental strengths and weaknessess?
Like the Tarot card - I got nothing for this line.
The perfect shape - Arguably a sphere.
If you catch my drift - Perhaps a reference to its drifting action.
You're close for line three but off by one dimension. :D
Repost:
Capricious and free

The perfect shape

so it's either something thats a perfect circle or can travel through time . . . i'm gonna guess it's the former! :D
Yes, line 3 refers to something circular.
Not many chances to use hyperspheres in riddles. ;)
Capricious and free Like the Tarot card - Sounds like The Star. The perfect shape If you catch my drift - A sphere drifting through time? The Jecht/Braska spheres!
Good guess, but its not The Star. Also the answer involves a circle, not a sphere.
this sounds like sin to me. When you see him in the intro he's a perfectly round ball of water. also i think in the tarot cards there's a card that symbolizes sin.
It's not Sin.
Again, line three refers to something circular and flat.
HintThe Tarot card will remind you of a television program.
Seymour Omnis?
No, but you've got the idea.
is it the mortibodies?
Yeah, I guess it is the mortibodies from Omnis, as the tarot card would be Wheel of Fortune.
Tabris has the right Tarot card. :)
It's not Mortibodies, but it refers to something else circular and flat.
damn, this is a good one BG
Sun Crest
The perfect shape... Spheres... Drift... Well, let's just say I'm think what any other man would be thinking. So, my guess is, Lu, Rikku, or Yuna?
No to all. And it's related to circles, not spheres.
REPOST:
Capricious and free
Like the Tarot card - reminds you of the wheel of fortune?
The perfect shape - a circle
If you catch my drift
the chocobo race under remiem temple? u run in circles to get to the finish
This is a complete shot in the dark but.... Calm lands?
the sphere that changes elements and stuff in macalena woods
Still not Spherimorph.
HintLet me clarify something. The answer as a whole is not circular and flat, but the part of it that is reminicent of the Tarot card Wheel of Fortune is.
Is it those thing in the Seymour Omnis fight that determine what his element type is, uh... MortiSomething?
Mortiphasms
It's not related to Seymour.
HintThe last two lines describe the name of the answer.
Is it the Giant Wheel thing on the Airship with all those symbols on it?
Close enough. It's the Airship itself.
Capricious and free -The airship lets you travel the world in any order.
Like the Tarot card - Wheel of Fortune resembles the disc on the back and is a symbol of the fickleness of fate
The perfect shape - Circus is Latin for circle, refering to the central ring, which modern circuses still have.
If you catch my drift- Continents can drift. An obscure reference to Continental.
The last two lines form the name of the airship, Continental Circus. This is never mentioned at all in the game itself or FFX-2. However, it's the name given on the model replica Square Enix started selling recently. I didn't expect many people to know that but the Tarot card narrowed down the possibilities.
Your turn, Caveroamer! :)
Dark and Mysterious I am
Weak i might be
but strike at me
you will pay dearly
Tonberry?
Such a small thing
Causes large problems
Never seen directly
But youth will seek it
BG is unstoppable
maybe kimahri's horn? it's small and is never seen in the game, but carries with it a large past put there by biran and yenke. the "youth" part may refer to the ronso children looking for it in X-2
You're quite the puzzle fiend too, ya know. :D
Spot on! It's Kimahri's horn for the stated reasons.
well done d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x, for some reason i was thinking of some sort of sphere, from the temples
i can see how you would think that ;)
those who are literate
are seen all over the planet
and yet only one catalogue
exists to document the voice
from the high sees
where it clearly isn't needed
to the great cavernous depths
seemingly lost forever
the only tangible essence
left to teach the dumb
unless you take the knowledge
of those that passed before
I have a feeling this will be solved pretty quickly, but we'll see how it goes
Al Bhed Primers? You can use an old save to translate Al Bhed right from the beginning.
yup pretty quick. i'd explain every line but i'm sure ur all bright enough to sort that out urself. ur up BG
Wow, this is like Ping-Pong. :greenie:
Squall's sentiment for Mutual aid
Green light the Best offense?
Repeat the Pugilist's specialty
Mix to Insult the young lady
Aren't these FFX riddles?
Sure, but the riddle's not about Squall. Part of the answer echoes his attitude though.
I do a lot of external references in my riddles.
EDIT: I'll change that line if people have a serious problem with it.
Rikku? Cause she's green on the sphere grid, and she uses mix as her overdrive. And she kinda locks her memories up like Squall, too.
Good guess, but it's not Rikku.
HintUse the capital letters to guide how to separate the lines.
Parts of that riddle make me think of Bartello, especially the references to pugilism, mutual aid and a young lady...
.:Edit:.
Hmm. I'll try breaking it down phrase-by-phrase...
Squall's sentiment [apathy/aloofness?] for Mutual aid
Green light [allow/approve?] the Best offense? [a good defence?]
Repeat the Pugilist's specialty [pugilist=fistfighter; pugilist's speciality = boxing/punching?]
Mix to Insult the young lady
Squall's sentiment for
Mutual aid
Green light the
Best offense?
Repeat the
Pugilist's specialty
Mix to
Insult the young lady
Could it be the Abbadon Flame?
I can only think of Wakka now that it's got to do with punching, since he punches Luzzu across the face in MRR, and cause in the Gagazet trial 2, you can put him in Rikku's green light, although it would be wrong.
It's not Wakka either.
HintThe answer to one of the lines involves making a pun.
Repost:
Squall's sentiment for

I'm convinced that cracking the last line is crucial to getting this one... "Mix to/Insult the young lady"
Young ladies who appear in the game:
Yuna
Rikku
Lulu
Elma
Lucil
Shelinda
Tidus
Dona
Calli
There are others, but I can't think of any who really stand out or have a significant role. Now, as for young ladies who are in some way insulted during the story...
Yuna - gets her fair share of insults
Rikku - Wakka's none too kind about the Al Bhed
Lulu
Elma
Lucil
Shelinda - she gets heaps
Dona - reowr!
Calli
And then there's Tidus' verbal sparring with the Luca Goers prior to the Blitz tournament; there are several women in that team.
I get the feeling that Blitzball is relevant to this one.
,,,But now I'm stuck again.
It's none of the ladies on that list although the answer does involve Yuna.
i'm up for a logical interpretation ;)
Squall's sentiment for --> very little sentiment then
Mutual aid --> self explanatory
Green light the
Best offense? --> a good defense
Repeat the --> self explanatory
Pugilist's specialty --> fighting with fists
Mix to
Insult the young lady --> self explanatory
. . . i got nothing :D
You are correct with line 6, the answer is Fight.
I don't remember the fight well at all, but is it Seymour in the 2nd Sinspawn Gui fight? Doesn't he punch? Or does he use his staff like Yuna?
Either way that's not the answer.
Six lines to go! :p
Squall's sentiment for
Mutual aid
Green light the
Best offense? (Defense)
Repeat the
Pugilist's specialty (Fight)
Mix to
Insult the young lady
Hmm... the fight against Braska's Final Aeon involves Tidus' Squall-esque sentiments for his old man, and lots of flinging of words to provide the heroes with an edge over their opponent... it doesn't match the riddle well enough, though.
It's not the fight against BFA.
HintTry rephrasing the remaining unsolved lines separately.
in a bid to keep my greatets thread going (it can't die yet! :D) i'm gonna take a guess at the boss battle against the wendigo on lake macalania. i'm only basing this on a couple of lines though so probly not right. the mutual aid thing could refer to the guado healing him, and the boxer thing is obvious. the best defense being a good offence may refer to him going berserk
Zombie thread! :x_x:
It's not the Wendigo fight.
HintThis is completely optional.
im being drawnto Cid. He's a figher. Riku and him fight like cats and dogs. Riu mixes sthings in her overdrive. The Al Dhed are all apatetic toward the loss of home. instead of trying to fight the fiends killing home they light it up [good offense?].
thats my two cents
Well reasoned, but it's not Cid. Did you check my last hint?
oops! hehe? in that case, i got nothing
Do you want another hint? Just ask.

Cactuar Minigame on Bikanel Island?
It's not the Cactuar minigame.
for the love of all tings holy, hhhhiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnttttttt!!!!!!!!!1
Dark Shiva?
It's not Dark Shiva.
Hint Time! It's things that Yuna can say.
White magic spells? a summon monster? something she said to a different charactert? or am i totally of?
That's three guesses. To be fair, one of your guesses is on the right track.
oops! :-/ she doesnt speak when she summons or casts, so im going to go with sayings to a differrent character. The fighting words and the mention of insult leads me to think that it is somehow involved with yunalesca and the final aeon.
i got nothing =(
is it the time when yuna wakes up with bad hair
She does, actually:) The first time she summons an Aeon or casts a spell, there's an incantation or some dialogue that goes with it. From the simple "heal us" with Cure, to "light shines strong, our woe begone!" for Esuna.
The Aeons get a variety of comments from her... some she simply introduces herself to, whereas others she asks for protection, or implores them to "fight on!"
"Mix to insult the young lady" makes me think it's some kind of teasing comment to Rikku in battle.
Hmm... now to figure out whether "the young lady" means Yuna herself, or one of the Aeons whose fayth is a young lady...
I fully expect to be pelted with bricks when the mysteries of that line are unveiled.
To be fair, I did give an important hint about it earlier.
yuna wouldnt insult herself, so i am lead to think that she said it to a summon/character.
Squall's sentiment for \ mutual aid=aeons? so an aeon she doesnt care about?
Mutual aid /
Green light the - a green aeon perhaps? the magus sister flowers?
Best offense? (Defense) -i got nuttin
Repeat the -?
Pugilist's specialty (Fight) - a character/aepn specializong in fists
Mix to -?
Insult the young lady -?

can't you just sense the coming stoning =)
You don't actually need to solve lines 4 and 6. They are already solved.
You're close with line 3.
Is it the commands Yuna can give to the Magus Sisters?
Squall's sentiment for - 'Do as you will.'
Mutual aid - 'Help each other!'
Green light the - 'Go, go!'
Best offense? - 'Defence!'
Repeat the - 'One more time!'
Pugilist's specialty - 'Fight!'
Mix to - 'Combine powers!'
Insult the young lady - 'Dismiss.'
'Are you alright?' doesn't seem to be there, but it could also fall under 'Mutual Aid' I suppose.
You're correct, Enjolras! The answer is Yuna's commands to the Magus Sisters. I only left out 'Are you alright?' because isn't listed in the strategy guide.
Dismiss = 'Diss Miss'
Let the pelting commence. :D
"I'm Jean-Luc Picard, and I facepalm this message."

But seriously... that was a fine piece of cryptic quizzing. Far beyond even the harder crosswords out there. Very nice work, only perhaps a little impossible for anyone to get without a whole lot of hints:D
Good riddle, BG.
Not sure if you'll find this easy or hard, but here goes...
Hephaestus' child
Dances for triumph but fails
A bisque fulmination
Joins in its broken pride
In futility lavished
By a redoubt of marksmen
Solace through backlog
Summarily applied
11 days, it's about time someone took a stab at this :D
Hephaestus' child - hephaestus' child was a boy born by the earth and became king (thank you wikipedia :D)
Dances for triumph but fails -
A bisque fulmination - either a loud doll, a loud seafood soup or a loud tile . . . i'm gonna guess the doll :D
Joins in its broken pride -
In futility lavished -
By a redoubt of marksmen -
Solace through backlog -
Summarily applied -
from this little bit i've found i'm gonna guess it's one of lulu's weapons, although i'm not sure how that links to the first line?
(I'm going to embarass myself but oh well)
Hephaestus' child - Cacus... possibly? Sounds like Cactuar? 8D; Cacus is a fire demon, and you find cactuars in an area where a lot of fiends use fire-based attacks?
Dances for triumph but fails - Cactuars do a weird dance and tend to escape battle when their HPs are low... so they tend to fail a lot?
A bisque fulmination - Catuar's are basically personificated plants? If that's the definition you're looking for~ or as d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x put it, a doll?
Joins in its broken pride - 1000 Needles... err, its needles break off? And it shamefully runs off when it's low on HP?
In futility lavished - So it's a useless battle if you can't stop it from escaping?
By a redoubt of marksmen
Solace through backlog - When their low on HP, they try to flee~
Summarily applied - See above; rather swiftly - without delay
My guess is that it's a cactuar, or one of Lulu's cactuar dolls :D
Though I know I'm wrong :monster:
The first line could be Pandora as well.
Thanks for taking a stab guys; I was worried my riddle had killed the thread.
Anyway, it's not cactuars or any one of Lulu's dolls.
Does the first line refer to Pandora?
*batters eyelashes* Any hints?
try and kill my thread will ya! :D
Is it a fiend?
Ifrit
Hephaestus' child: God of fire and weaponry stands out
Dances for triumph but fails
A bisque fulmination: 1 odds allowed an inferior player & 2 unglazed china that is not to be glazed but is hard-fired and vitreous
1 to send forth censures or invectives
Joins in its broken pride
In futility lavished: uselessness
By a redoubt of marksmen: protective barrier
Solace through backlog: 1 a large log at the back of a hearth fire & 2 an accumulation of tasks unperformed or materials not processed
Summarily applied
I'm thinking it's a weapon with a flame ability if it isn't Ifirit. My guess is Flame Sword.
None of the current answers, sorry.
No, the first line does not refer to Pandora.
Perhaps yu-yevon. A god hiding behind the armour of sin. eh, its a guess
Fire Moomba maybe?
its already been said hat its not one of lulu's weapons
i think this is probably too obvious to be an answer to one of enjo's riddles but operation mi'ihen?
hephaestus' child might be the large cannon that fires at sin, will the redoubt of marksmen would be the al bhed creating a human shield with their guns
Sorry for the long absence guys.
Good guess devil, but it's not Operation Mi'ihen, Yu-yevon, or Fire Moomba.
Hint: Many of the words in the riddle have multiple real life meanings; the correct ones might not be the most common.
