I thought this was more or less a filler episode and not very interesting. The best parts was when Jack was with Hurley. The people on the beach aren't as interesting as the Locke/Ben/Hurley group or the Desmond/Sayid/Michael group, and next episode appears to focus on them so it should be good.

I really don't like Sawyer's turn from loveable rogue jerk to hero protector of the little people. Well. Not that Hurley is little. But y'know.
When he gets back to the beach and finds out Jack and Kate are in love he'll be a jerk again.
I gotta say Lost knows their fanbase :D Funny how people refuse to believe a death to really be a death until they're rotting bodies are shown on screen.
I don't like Hurley. why did he have to survive? his story keeps stinking up the rest of the story.
and crap kate is off the market.
Sawyer has always had a bit of heroism and decency to him but nowhere near the level of protectiveness he's been showing the last few episodes. Definitely a bit out of character, but I'm loving it. It's so freakin' endearing.Quote:

Especially considering that she was doing the scene with a Korean actor, you would think she would have done a better job.
I don't think that Sawyer is necessarily acting out of character. His character has been changing pretty drastically over the course of the show. He had a huge regression after he killed Cooper, but he's starting to continue on that path he was on to becoming something other than just a Confidence Man.
Except Daniel Dae Kim had to learn how to speak Korean for Lost. :pQuote:

DDK's Korean was atrocious in the beginning too but he's gotten loads better. I bet his parents are happy about that. But no joke you guys, I've never in my life heard Korean butchered in the way that this lady butchered it in the last episode. Kudos to DDK for keeping a straight face while doing that scene. A. Yeah. Korean’s my first language and I was born in Korea and spoke it growing up. But then when I moved to the States and entered elementary school I wanted so hard to be American that I started speaking exclusively English because I wanted to learn it and assimilate. This talk of Korean in Lost reminds me of Hiro's Japanese in Heroes. Quite often, when he speaks, he says something with much more emotion than what they print on the screen, whether it be excitement or foreboding. I guess they figure the American audience can't handle all of the extra emotion, since Hiro never gets emotional during the show. It's always interesting to see how they translate it.
How good is the translation in Lost?

It's pretty good. Sometimes the direct translation is wrong, but the meaning they're trying to get at is right. For example, every time Sun uses the Korean word term of endearment for husband/spouse they just translate that word into "Jin". I think it's funny when they do that because when she's calling out to him with that word, even non-Korean speaking audiences can plainly tell that she's not saying, "Jin! Jin!" :p The Korean dialogue itself is really fantastic though. Really well written. Too bad most people can't understand it! I was thinking of this post when watching last night's episode and I also believe they showed the Carl and Rousseau's bodies so that we can see that the voices everyone hears are ghosts of the dead which is why Miles knew where the bodies were and who they were.Quote:
