I'm guessing it either has to do with armor or weapons (like a blitzball).

First was graphite - Onyx Amror
Second was diamond - Diamond Armor
Third was buckyballs - Platinum Armor
Is this the fourth? - (Lonsdaleite?) Crystal Armor

It can't be chronological order, since diamond has been known of since ancient times, and I'm sure it's been around longer than graphite.
