I really like Xenogears, it puts Xenosaga to shame IMO, but I'm not a fan of Xenosaga at all.
I don't think it deserves all the hype. It was a good game, with an interesting storyline, and somewhat interesting characters. Bart? xD But I don't find it to be fantastic or revolutionary.
