I can't find a reference of a type of sword called Masamune.

I did fine a swordsmith with that name. Perhaps you are referring to him?

Well to the date, I wouldn't go because I would turn him down.

As for Masumune, yeah he's a swordsmith not a type of katana. I guess Square and the bagillion other RPG manufacturers took his name because they felt it would be a good idea.

lets face it people when you stand ron weasly next to oliver wood(from film 1) ron would kinda look like a redish blur.

I believe Masamune is the Godhand equal for Auron, but I could be wrong. If not, it is still the first name of a great conquerer of Japan, Masamune Date XD

Date Masamune.

It is the "name" of several swords that the swordsmith Masamune produced, as well.
