In FF terms, you're probably right. But if you want an example of a real Ranger, then check out a guy called Aragorn in a film/book of which you may have heard. Tall, dark, kicks arse with a sword. Oh, and good at tracking things. That's a proper Ranger, not a big dumb jock with a stupid hair cut and a wussy ball!

No. Wakka has never and will never be classified as a Ranger. Does he have an animal companion? No. Does he like nature? No. Does he not have a dumb haircut, weird accent and a blue and white ball that he carries around with him everywhere including to bed and the washroom? No.
Though I do have to praise him for the fact that he can deal up to 99,999 points of damage to a monster with a plastic(?) ball. Like please.
